What??? No, vignette comment! Your light source suggestion sounds right and in fact, I actually tried two light angles. Both resulted in minor shadows resulting in the loss of the fine details on the coin. Light coming from almost a 90 degree angle worked best.
You would have laughed at the the way my tripod setup looked in order to get the right angle at so close a focal distance. Best! |

The only suggestion I have is to see if centering the flower in the frame would benefit this beautifully serene image. Carol's right, this is a super image for competition. Revisited it several time, Denise. |

At first quick glance I thought the anthers were flying insects (and I haven't had my nightcap yet). As Carol said, they do appear to be floating. That aspect is enhanced by to open black space on the right; very nice composition. The DOF you achieved is perfect for this image. Very nice, Bill! |

You captured the colors and the details perfectly. The eye, colors, and sharpness made this an image I wanted to keep looking at. All of these components might pop to even more if the leg was cropped out - try it and take another look at the eye. Very nice, Ginger! |

Must have taken a lot of patience to capture this great composition. Second all of Bill's and Carol's comments comments. |

Beautiful image! The colors and the graceful symmetry of the flower captures the peace of Christmas in a most unique manner. Given our temperatures, this was probably taken indoors. Suggest trying this with a tripod & the smallest f stop available lens to increase the DOF. Given the tightness of the petals, the colors and the grace of your rose might be complimentary to your original. Side by side framed prints? I didn't catch the leaf clipping either.
