60 Nov 17 Comment Hi Denise,
Remember Paul Harvey's "Now you know the rest of the story"? The camera I used is basically a point & shoot with numerous scene settings; used 'macro' for this. That was the only setting I made; the rest was auto. The CLOSE distance was pure luck. If I had my Nikon & macro lens, I would have tried what you suggested but by the time I set & focused, the opportunity would have taken wings. I always carry the TG-4 with me for the unexpected moments. It's QUICK, small & light, versatile, up to 16 MP (facilitates desirable post processing), shock&waterproof, lens equivalent 25-100mm, f 2-4.9, but very short battery life. With 2 extra batteries, thread adapter & UV filter (primarily for lens protection) cost was $500.

60 Nov 17 Comment I think it's an ornamental cabbage. The colors are appealingly complimentary and their differing sizes gives your image an appealing flow. Suggest redoing your crop to center the emerging leaves, blacken image just a tad, and sharpen the edges. Very nice!

Good ThanksGiving wishes, Denise!

60 Nov 17 Comment Yes, it does give me a good feeling! Was it your color sharpening that achieved the appearance of back lighting? It acts like a frame for the main part of your picture; it's very appealing. Regarding the right side of the image, suggest trying a minor vignette. Nicely done.

Good ThanksGiving wishes, Bill!

The type of butterfly and flowers (colors) are a great match; grabbed my attention immediately. The background bokeh is great, perfect camera settings. The flower's stamens have the appearance of over sharpened edges, perhaps the wings as well? Reducing it a bit may give you even better results. Very nice.
Good ThanksGiving wishes, Bill!

60 Nov 17 Comment The flow of the sedum(?), the complimentary colors, the vignette, and the fading edges of the pot all contribute to an extremely appealing image. Initially the fact there is very little of this image that is sharply focused, from a macro (??) perspective, bothered me. But the longer I looked at this, the more appeal that aspect of your image had for me. BTW, found an interest site for identifying succulents --
