60 Mar 17 Comment Thanks, Ginger
These are great suggestions-most of which I've not used. Liked the results and appreciated the education. Now, for the SPRING!!!!!

60 Mar 17 Comment Stared at this for a long time. Will be trying your long exposure technique. Great method for increasing your DOF and reduction of higher ISO noise. Thanks for sharing the info. Super sharp and colorful image!!! Mar 8th
60 Mar 17 Comment Very lifelike, Dorothy. The sharpness and the light captured by the dish gives the appearance of a frame around the fruit. If this was cropped, suggest centering the berries enabling the capture of the entirety of the crocheted cloth. Colors worked very well. Great macro! Mar 8th
60 Mar 17 Comment Ditto Carol's comments. I would like to see all the petals BUT understand the problems you mentioned about Longwood - encountered them myself. Have you tried a high shutter speed macro of some of their small indoor fountains? Mar 8th
60 Mar 17 Comment Although I agree with Carol about the softness of your image, my thoughts are that it is soft in areas (foreground and background) that add to the main topic, the bee. The bee is nicely sharp in the eyes, back hairs, and wings, the colors are very natural, and I loved the head on view. The D300 is noiseless with the ISO boosted to 600. Believe you can set the 300 for a maximum ISO, say 600. Then you could shoot in aperture mode and try different settings to give you more DOF. Liked your bee, a daughter or a son?

60 Mar 17 Comment The complementary soft pastel colors make this very appealing. Also liked the softer appearance of the framing (right and left side of your image). Spent some time trying to figure out how you accomplished that since there is a very minor, if any, difference in the distance to your sensor between the right, left, and middle of the image. Realized some of the paint is less pitted giving it a softer appearance. Enjoyed your image and the challenge it presented. Mar 7th
60 Mar 17 Comment Have always increased the blacks but you've given me some food for thought. I'm going to try a minor decrease in shadows with a decrease in blacks and then compare results. Thanks for the detailed feedback AND the question. Mar 7th
