52 Jan 26 Comment Great capture Mike. I think your crop and post processing are spot on. I would not change a thing. To me the owl looks very natural and I love all of the fluffed up feathers. Well done. Jan 20th
52 Jan 26 Comment This image makes me feel cold to the bone! Well done in capturing the twisting of the tree branches going up and holding the weight of the snow. And all of the little branches poking through the snow contributes to a lovely composition. I do find the big clump of snow in the bottom left distracting and looking at Sharon's version I find it more pleasing. Great eye. Jan 19th
52 Jan 26 Comment Jim stole the show and you caught just the right moment as he moved in to take a bite out of the strawberry. You had some very bright lighting conditions to work with and I think your post processing worked well at eliminating the surrounding distractions and brightness. The strawberries and Jim's head are nice and sharp. Nice highlight in Jim's eye and great detail. Well done. Jan 19th
52 Jan 26 Comment It doesn't take a grand vista to make an very pleasing composition. I think adding a glow filter would enhance the rocks. I'm 50/50 on cropping out the wave action. The waves crashing over the rocks does give it a place along the ocean. Try cropping out the waves and see what fits your taste. Jan 19th
52 Jan 26 Comment Your patience paid off in capturing this moment in nature. It pays to go back and explore images taken years ago and process with the new software we have now. I agree with the others that the hawk and frog look out of balance with the surroundings. As Sharon said it looks like a composite which it is not. Mike and Sharon offered great suggestions so I won't repeat what they have offered. This image is worth more attention and post processing. Jan 19th
52 Jan 26 Reply Thanks Sharon. I have more work to do on this image and all of the suggestions really help. I can see now that I don't need all of the sky to show the colors of the sunrise. Jan 19th
52 Jan 26 Reply Thanks Ally, good suggestions. I need to go back and work on the image some more. Jan 19th
52 Jan 26 Reply Thanks Mike. I like your suggestions and your edit. Jan 19th
52 Jan 26 Comment I think you did a great job of capturing the penguin zooming by. Flexible rubber hoods are a life saver when shooting through glass. Great catch light in the eye and very sharp overall. I don't have anything more to add than what has already been mentioned. I had to look up the penguin and I believe it is a "Fairy or Little Penguin." Jan 19th
