Love the simplicity and the composition. I'm undecided on the background as to; does it add or detract from the main subject. Your choice of a frame sets off the image nicely. |

Love this image. You find so many interesting subjects at the beach and a great eye in capturing them. Love your post processing, everything from front to back is tack sharp. The varied colors from the green seaweed on the rock to the white dog, little girl's blue shorts and the man's red shirt really brings the scene together. And there is a virtual triangle between the two men and the girl with the dog. Well done! |

Faces everywhere, reminds me of the Twilight Zone. Not using a polarizer worked well as all of the faces in the background really add a sense of mystery and intrigue. The two mannequin heads in the foreground are a great anchor and then my eye goes to the back to see what else is going on. Great find and capture. |

I'm glad you included an image to show more of the surrounding elements. I was a little lost in the edited image. It does look like bacon. Just need a fried egg next to it. |

You had more patience than I would have had; I can see myself turning around. At least you put the frustrating time to good use. I like the composition of the offset cars in front of you and being able to see the vehicles stuck on the other side. I think all of the elements tell a story of rural and sometimes residential America and how the moving of freight can interrupt our lives. |

Great image of the male bringing in nesting material. Everything sharp and your post processing is spot on to set off the herons and nesting area against the early morning sky. Beautiful!! |

I know you like to do artsy, abstract and macro images. I think you had a great idea in setting up this composition. The first thing my eye looks at is the curved green stem on the left as it is the element that is most in focus. Hand holding for macro is very difficult. I think if you had used a tripod and as Sharon suggested using the touch screen focus you would have been able to get the focus precisely where you intended to to be. |

You captured a beautiful bird and I love the tilt of the head as if he is wondering what you are doing. In my first evaluation I thought it should be cropped tighter but my second look said no. The two buds on the right balance nicely with the colors in the bird. I would suggest cloning out the bit of green sticking in on the right next to the top bud "border patrol". |

We often pass by these common birds but if you stop to look, or they pause for a moment, they have a unique character of their own. I agree with Sharon in that there is too much going on around the gull that distracts from your main subject the Gull. I did a test crop, may need to crop more off the top in mine too, as a suggestion. I think adding some dynamic contrast to the gull and maybe dodging it a bit to separate it from the background will put more emphasis on the gull. |

You have captured a great story here with the parent presenting food to the chicks. Hopefully the parent chopped it up or the chicks were big enough to peck pieces off from it. I agree with Sharon in the crop is too tight causing the head and leg being detached from the body. You original image composition works much better in my opinion. I also agree with toning down the highlights so they don't detract from those cute chicks. |

Your persistence paid off. I think your image tells a great story of the nesting herons and as they work together. I'm wondering if there are two eggs as there is something round to the back of the front heron's leg and then the white round object below the heron's bill. I think your post processing works well. I agree that the back heron is a little soft so hope that doesn't hurt you in the competition. It seems like you had a fast enough shutter speed and aperture for sufficient depth of field for both herons. I feel you have a great nature image showing the heron's on the nest and in their environment. Good luck. |

Yes the Sony R5 has eye tracking. The + 1 EV means that I set my exposure compensation to +1 to give a little more exposure. |
