This looks like a wonderful place to wander around looking for interesting subjects. I like your post processing and that you cropped in tighter to bring the people closer as they are an important part of the composition. I love all of the textures in the marble and the horse sculpture. Well done. |

Yes the boats name is Kennewick and they load and unload from the bow and stern, that way they can go directly into the dock loading area without having to turn the boat around. I did take a few pictures at Ft Casey. Maybe I will put one in next month. |

Another very pleasing country farm scene. I would suggest cropping more off the top while keeping the lower part of the tree and the remains of the stone wall. In my opinion the dead grass does not add to the composition. You might even think about a panorama. |

A tough decision. The color version gives one the feel of a winter day. B/W can convey drama and reduce distractions. |

I think you did a great job with the technique you used. One suggestion is to take out the black spot on the middle left petal. Also, a white border would help as the viewer has no idea where the borders are. Love all of the water drops on the petals. Well done. |

A very pleasant country farm scene. I agree with Sol about eliminating the three partially hidden alpacas in the back. Having just the front three would make for a more pleasing composition. |

This is a beautiful capture of the wood stork flying with nesting material. Even with the shallow dof aperture the head and front wing appear to be nice and sharp. Beautiful soft light on the front of the stork with some catch light in the eye. I think your post processing worked well in bringing out the details in the stork and decreasing any distracting elements. You said you added some background to the top edge. My only suggestion is to add some canvas to the right also to give the stork more room to move forward. |

Wow Judith, you really took on an almost impossible task. Having never tried this I'm only going to speculate as to what may have helped you be successful. You were successful in catching a bee with a pollen sack. The bee is very soft from either post processing or just not in focus. I don't know if using auto focus set at animal/bird detection if the camera would have been able to detect a bee and focus on it. I think my only suggestion is to keep trying. I will look forward to what others in the group suggest. |

Lucky you to have hummers nesting in your yard. I have lots of hummers coming to my feeders but can never find their nests. I think your crop works well at bringing the main focus on the birds. You have captured a nice story with chick and parent at possibly feeding time. Great catch light in the eyes and the birds look nice and sharp. My only suggestions would be to remove the bright area of branch on the right above the main branch, tone down the brightness of the leaves on the right and maybe add a small border around the image so the viewer knows the boundaries of the image especially in the darker top of the image. Well done. |

Great capture of these chicks. It would be nice to see the original image to better appreciate your edited version. I love the hair sticking up and the rather startled look in the eyes. I find the area to the right of the chick with the food and the area to the left of his neck and under the branch very unnatural. There looks to be part of another bird under the branch on the left. I'm feeling these might be artifacts from the limb removal but unsure without seeing the original. My eye wants to drift to the light cluttered background. I think burning that area and maybe adding a vignette would be beneficial. I think with a little more work you have a great image. |

Nice action shot. I think your crop works well in bringing the geese to the forefront and emphasizing them and the action as the main focus of the image. I think you caught the action at just the right moment and your fast shutter speed stopped that action. I wonder what the right goose is vocalizing. There is nice catch light in the eyes. I think you have opened up the shadows just enough so the viewer can see some definition in the underside of the wings. If I had any suggestion it would be to remove the three or four white dots on the left side in front of the reflection. Well done. |
