51 Mar 24 Comment Before I read the description I thought this was corn kernels scattered on the ground. I understand your shooting straight down on these mushrooms, however it would be interesting to know how tall they are and also an ants view of them from underneath. Maybe using a selfie stick to shoot low without having to get on the ground yourself. You ae so great at finding interesting subjects. Mar 9th
51 Mar 24 Comment I know this image was taken during a winter month but it feels like summer to me. I like that you used the foreground beach grass as it breaks up the empty ocean and also frames the city in the background. I think my first instinct would have been to not include the beach grass. I'll have to think twice next time I'm faced with a similar composition. The surfer with a yellow board was truly a bonus. Well done. Mar 9th
51 Mar 24 Comment The images makes me feel the cold of winter and the yearning for summer. The water and the snow lines lead my eye through the image. It always amazes me how well the phone camera handles contrast so well. Mar 9th
51 Mar 24 Comment Everyone seems to have great places to hike. I think the native editing did a great job with this image. I'm also glad you included the original. The original is very flat and dull while the edited version is full of color and life. I like that you cropped in closer on the trail to give us a more intimate view and feeling. Well done. Mar 9th
51 Mar 24 Comment The long shadows clearly indicate early morning. The line of the trees and the path lead the eye into the image. Nice placement of the sandhill crane. The text and frame add a nice element. Well done. Mar 9th
51 Mar 24 Comment Beautiful. You have to get up early to get images like this. The sky is so gorgeous, it just holds my eye. I think the foreground works well in that it has just enough light to see some detail. My only suggestion would be to take out the branches poking in at the bottom right of the image and also the the top of the cactus on the bottom right. A great reward for an early morning walk. 51 Mar 24 Reply This was taken just before 9am and about an hour after sunrise. It is low hanging clouds in the valley. Mar 9th
51 Mar 24 Reply I see the red/green refraction now. I checked the original and it is there also. Wondering if it is some reflection from underneath the clouds. Mar 9th

52 Mar 24 Comment This tree seems to be defying death and just hanging on. How interesting what nature does. I like your post processing and how it has brought out all of the different tones in the image. Leaving a little bit of the sky in really doesn't bother me and actually I think the tree line against the sky adds interest. The tree is sharp with the foreground and background nicely blurred by the lens focal length and f stop. I wouldn't change anything. Mar 11th
52 Mar 24 Comment Another amazing Judith original! I think your post processing works for the creative look you achieved. For me the artifact or whatever it is that outlines the plant makes it look like glass art. As I admire your creativity with a nearly dead plant all I can think is I would have pitched this plant long ago. Mar 11th
52 Mar 24 Comment Welcome to the group Polly. You are starting out with a winner. I think your crop works really well in putting all of the focus on the interaction between the mother and pup. The pup touching mom with his flipper and mom's flipper up in the air makes me wonder what is going to happen next. I wouldn't change a thing. Mar 11th
52 Mar 24 Comment I can feel the storm coming as I look at this image. It appears to be sharp from foreground to background. Your shutter speed was fast enough to stop the action of the waves and the blowing trees. I think your crop works well and it removes several items hanging on the border in the original. Very nice. 52 Mar 24 Comment A beautiful image and you caught him in a dramatic pose of maybe getting ready to take off. I agree with taking out the black stripe just above the rail, could be done by cloning from area just above. In my opinion leaving a section of the railing he is standing on would work a lot better at giving him a solid foundation to stand on. In your edited version the small post makes me feel like he is doing a balancing act as well as the rear toe got distorted with the gen fill. I was so concentrated on the heron that the background really didn't distract me although darkening or blurring it a bit would make it less noticeable. Mar 11th
52 Mar 24 Comment White Sands is on my bucket list. This is a different composition from others I have seen from White Sands. I think it works well with the humps of vegetation being illuminated by the early morning light. Polly and Mike have already addressed the hot left side and your post of an edited version cropping most of that area out has helped quite a bit. With the HDR and your post processing you have pulled out a lot of detail not seen in the original. I like the drama in the original sky but I think you did the right thing in cropping most of it out. In looking closely right above the vegetation, especially the one on the far right it almost looks like a reflection of the bush in the area just above the bush. I don't know what is causing it. I don't see it in your original. Mar 11th
