A beautiful fall composition. I like that you included a little of the sky with the clouds. Beautiful reflections. It would be interesting to see the original so one might have more appreciation for the hdr version. For me I would not want the colors anymore vibrant. Maybe warming up the image a bit would reduce the blue in the branches. |

I can visualize this image as a caricature. If I could draw I would try my hand at it. The tall gourd is papa, the right gourd is mama and the middle one is the teenage son looking up for direction. As others have said, your image has stimulated my imagination and isn't it fun when our photos can do that. Well done. |

I don't recall adding any warmth. I usually use the phone editing app and just hit auto. |

Like the trees we have seen this month it seems the clouds can also tell a story. Not only should we look behind us when photographing but also look up. Great capture Lynne. Now that we know the phenomenon behind the cloud formation I agree that having some of the ocean in the image would complete the story. |

I love photographing trees in different environments and situations as they can tell a story and seem to speak to me. This big old gnarly tree has a story. As your title says "bent but still standing" tells how tough it is and how deep the roots are to hang on through the toughest environmental conditions. I'm wondering what it would look like and if the story would change any if it was in black and white. |

I photographed one of these blue tongued lizards in Australia many years ago; before phones with live view. A great idea to use the live view to catch the fast action. Nice sharp detail in the lizards head. I have recently learned the advantages of live view in certain situations and that there is a film strip to choose the best image from. Well done!
I had to look up the name of the lizard, it's an Eastern blue-tongued lizard native to Australia. |

Beautiful image that screams fall. The components all work well together. I agree with Robert's suggestion of a lower angle to include a little more foreground would add some interest. I'm also wondering if adding a little more of the colorful trees was possible as they seem to be the main focus for me. |

Such beautiful colors in a bird called a swamphen. To me you captured the action at just the right moment. Wings up, feet down and it makes me wonder where she is going to land. Sharp with nice catch light in the eye. I'm at a toss up as to whether the single purple flower on the right should be removed. It is the same color as the colors in the bird and maybe it just adds a little balance. Photoshop does have a great tool to take out distractions and rebuild the background. I have no suggestions for improvement. I'm glad you were so lucky. |

Judith, I love your imagination and experimentation. I like all three images but leaning more to the original as for me it is more intimate with just the two trunks and fall colored leaves. My next choice would be your final edit. I like the curves of the trunks and the interplay of the leaves. The cropping has also made it less cluttered than original 2. The one thing I do see is blue fringing in all three of the images. There are various ways to correct this. You may try just desaturating the blue in color adjustment. I don't use Photoshop so it might be called something else in that program. I think you are doing a darn good job at creating a high key image. I have not done much with high key so can not offer much in suggestions. Keep up the good work. I love to see what you are going to submit each month. |

Beautiful capture of the night heron. Including enough of the net gives it a sense of place and the story. The heron and net are tack sharp with a nice soft background. The orange eye really stands out against the surrounding green in front of the eye. My only suggestion would be to tone down the brightness of the white feathers especially the ones on the chest as they appear to be almost blowout. Well done. |

Nice capture of this magnificent elk. I was not so lucky on my recent trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. I think your crop works nicely as well as your post processing in bringing out the golden hues of the vegetation. Nice profile of the elks head which helps to show off the antlers. Nice catch light in the eye also. I don't see a thing I would change. Well done. |
