It all looks scrumptious. Looks can be deceiving. You got the picture at just the right time. Did you get to sample the goodies? |

I visited the area in 1983 when I moved to WA and all the blown down trees were still there. Eventually the majority of those trees were harvested and as you can see the area was replanted. |

We haven't been effected by smoke from Canada yet. I would think any haze is from the heat. |

A very soggy but vibrant scene with the rich green vegetation. I want to follow the stream to see where it goes. Rain can add a different mood to an image. |

Good eye to find this lone flower amongst the leaves. I'm wondering what it would look like in b&w especially with all of the lines, patterns and textures in the leaves. There is an old saying in photography: look down, look up and look behind you. Sometimes that is where the treasure is. |

A good reminder to think about getting low. I thought this might be from the recent flooding around Chicago. Looks can be deceiving and your camera position made all the difference. Well done. |

Trying to beat Mother Nature always seems to be a loosing proposition. I like how the road and power lines lead you to the snowy mountains. Your persistence paid off. Strange to see the desert and snow at the same time. Well done. |

WOW, the one eyed ghoul crying out in pain maybe because he has just lost part of his head. Isn't it amazing how Mother Nature works in twisting, turning and hollowing out what looks to be a tangle of tree roots. It always pays to really look at your surroundings. You never know who or what is watching you. |

Judith, you are so skilled at capturing the intimate details of the flowers and trees in your garden. I love the iridescence of the insect, that the insect is sharp and that just the edge of the petal below and right of the insect is sharp. For me these elements hold the viewers focus on your main subject along with the softness of the flower dropping away to the edges. For me there is just enough color in the folds of the petals to add definition and structure. |

You captured this magnificent bird at just the right moment. I like your crop and the placement of the osprey in the frame. Wings up talons down and clenched and a beady stare. Everything looks nice and sharp. I am not seeing a halo around the bird. I commend you for capturing this image handheld and from a kayak. Well done. There is nothing I would change. |

Nicely done to capture this bee as he buzzes from flower to flower. I like that you were able to get the important parts of the bee (head and antennae) sharp along with the flower parts he is on. I don't mind that the tail part of the bee is soft. I love the color of the flower and the yellow stamen tips work nicely with the yellow in the bee. I agree with the others about cropping more so that the bee is the main focus and holds the viewers eye an desaturating the color of the flower a little. |

This is a beautiful simple portrait of the pelican. I like your post processing that brought out the detail in the pelicans feathers and coloring. I like the black background, it gives a sense of the pelican floating. The only thing I might suggest for projecting is to put a thin frame or stroke around the image so the viewer knows where the frame of the image ends. |

These little guys are hard to photograph and you captured him without flash which is even more difficult. I don't always flip an image but in this case I think it adds to the image and works better for the viewer. Not seeing the feet doesn't bother me and the position of the wings works well. You did a masterful job at removing the flower behind the hummer. Having the hummer with just two flower stems gives a nice rule of odds to the image. Good detail in the bird and flowers and nice catch light in the eye. There is nothing I would suggest changing. Beautiful! |

Thanks Judith. I agree that giving black and white a try would be interesting. |
