The placement of those shells does look suspicious but if you look at the lines in the sand on the ocean side of the shells you can tell they had been there for a while. Sometimes luck just happens. |

I love this image. The S curve of the soap line leads up to the squeegee. You caught the action at just the right moment. I think it would be a totally different image if the window washers face was not behind the soap. Great eye to see this. |

I love the complimentary colors in this image. From the colors in the building and it's rustic decaying condition to the tree against the sky. Great idea to frame the tree in the porch. The bare tree and the flaking paint on the house are a reflection of once better times. Well done. |

Good eye to see this and then capture it. I love the play of the shadows on the brick walls and on the sidewalk. I think those shadows really make the image and the angle of the light producing the shadows is perfect. The sharpness from foreground to background leads the eye through the image. Well done. |

A beautiful image and well composed. I think the edits you did enhance the image. Did you consider doing a "live" shot so that you could add a slow motion to the water? I sometimes forget to do that until long after the fact. I do like water that shows movement but not everyone does. I can see multiple images within this scene but you would need a telephoto lens. You didn't say what phone you are using. Do you have one with the telephoto lens? |

It looks like they are coming out of hibernation and the squirrels are even smiling. I wonder what else you will find as winter gives way to spring. Good overall sharpness and detail and you got white snow. These are the fun images to capture. |

What a beautiful and peaceful time to be hiking and witness the beginning of a new day.I don't know what is causing it but I see a halo around the cactus, not only in the edited image but also in the original. I like your composition with a foreground, middle ground and background. My one suggestion would be to crop in from the left to eliminate the bare stick/branch as it is distracting. |

It relates to frames per second. So, on some cameras H+ might be 15-20 frames per second. Every camera has it and probably labeled L, M, H for low , medium and high. |

You really captured the action at the right moment. I like the catchlight in the Crackles eye and the slight splash of the water around the wing that touches the water. I also like that you added canvas on the right as in the original the birds wing was too close to the edge. Your main subject is nice and sharp and I think it works well to have the trailing birds soft. A question: when you are shooting action like this is your shooting mode set at mid, H, or H+? |

Judith, I'm loving your flower photography and the simple compositions. I think your editing is well done. I like that you softened the background and added the marbled effect that actually has some of the yellow in it that compliments the flower. I can see this as a high key image also with a white vignette. I like your composition as well as Sharon's so it's just a matter of taste as they both work well. Beautiful. |

You captured some beautiful light on these magnificent creatures. Great catch light in the eye of the front giraffe. I'm wondering if you could lighten the shadow on the background giraffes head with a mask and then highlight the eye a little. His neck is in the sun so I think you could lighten the face to the same brightness and it would look ok. I agree with Sharon on where subjects are cropped so that it looks intentional and not an accident. To me the giraffe on the right adds nothing to the image because of the direction he is looking. With Sharon's suggested crop I don't find the foliage in the corner much of a distraction. it actually frames the head of the giraffe. Being on safari and where your vehicle stops doesn't leave you much choice in composition. Well done. |

I like that you chose to put this into a panorama format. The rolling hills and tree line in the foreground compliments the diagonal lines of the background hills. I love the fog laying in the valley. I agree with Sharon that the image seems to need some punch. Maybe some dynamic contrast. I'm wondering if you cropped a little more off the bottom and added that amount to the sky that it would add in some of the blue from the sky. I would suggest checking the white balance so the snow is white. To me the snow in the bottom left corner looks a little pinkish. |

You have beautifully captured the interaction of the herons. My eye is lead from the extended leg up to the curve of the females neck and to the stick exchange. For me the position of the heads where you can see the eyes of each heron is important and you captured it at just the right moment. I think the editing you did to darken the foreground and the added texture to the background is excellent. Like Lisa, I see the very small white spot in the dark area in the upper Left corner. I have nothing to add for improvement. Well done in capture and editing. Good luck in the competitions. |

Thanks. I love going up to this area near Paradise in the winter just to photograph the snow laden trees. I do a lot of walking around with both my Sony and iPhone looking for different compositions. I'm shooting from the parking lot so looking up at the trees so it is somewhat of a challenge to get all the details I want and not loose them in post processing when I straighten the trees. |
