It doesn't destroy the original. It also doesn't make a copy. You can save a copy and then revert the original edit back to the raw unedited image. Jerry may be able to explain this better than me. I just learned it at our PSA phone club meeting Tuesday night. |

Great idea to capture this bit of social change. You could do a whole book on signs. The bottom line is probably the most important part of the sign. |

Very nice action and environmental image. There is so much to taken in in this image and you captured it just right. I like your post processing, it almost makes the image look like a drawing. Great clouds really add to the image. It looks like a storm is brewing. Nicely done. |

Living in the Pacific Northwest we have lots of fungi and mushrooms. I like that you showed the surrounding area where the fungi are growing. I think if you had cropped in tighter it would have been less interesting. Having said that I'm known for saying crop tighter to put the focus on your subject. The images is very vibrant with the greens and yellows in contrast to the tree texture. Nice find. |

I like your use of Painteresque on this image as to me it brings life to an otherwise ordinary image. My one suggestion might be to tone down the effect a little. I love the details and grittiness but it feels a little overwhelming. I haven't been in caves like this in many years. |

Very creative Jerry! My brain just doesn't think about doing these things. I have a selfie stick but seldom use it. I did recharge it a couple of weeks ago. Well done. |

I think you hit the jackpot Dave. I love photographing old rusty trucks. Your timing was perfect as the wet conditions helped bring out the colors in the truck and the stormy clouds really add to the mood of the image. |

Bingo! Much better Judith. You used the tools you had to make a very nice image of this Great Blue Heron. Your persistence paid off. |

Judith, I thought about your image for some time. Looking at your settings I see that you didn't use the full zoom capability of your lens. That would be my first suggestion. I don't know how many mega pixels the Canon 80d has but you did a severe crop and and if you don't have enough mega pixels to work with, say 50mp, when you crop this severely it really degrades the image. It is a great blue heron and a favorite bird of mine to photograph. You might consider carrying a tripod with you on your next visit. Was there a reason you didn't zoom in closer on the heron? In my opinion all the post processing in the world won't rescue an image cropped this severely. I would like to see you try this again. This is how we learn. |

Mike, you do a great job catching birds in flight. Although your images seem to be switched I think your post processing was well done. I like the wing position and the intense look on the ducks face. I think I would remove the blue spot in the left corner as it is so small and a bit distracting. I feel the blue on the right works well. |

A nice record shot of a fledging red foot booby. The face and eyes are very sharp. I like the action of him scratching his face. A difficult situation to contend with the high contrast bright background. I'm not sure how to deal with the distracting highlights on the right. If you try to tone them down they will tend to turn gray. |

I spent some time in this valley a few years ago. It is a beautiful place to visit. You had some weather conditions to contend with. Some sunshine would have been nice. To me the image still looks a bit flat. Maybe some more contrast and maybe adding a glow filter or sunshine filter would give it more life. I want it to pop out and invite me in. |

I like how your cropping brought us closer to the turtle. You had a challenge cleaning up the background. To me the leg in the water in the original is natural looking where the edited version doesn't. I did a quick edit just toning down the background instead of trying to remove it. For me including a muted background environment is ok. |

Thank you for sharing the story behind the image. I think your post processing has worked very well. For me the lighter yellow spot on the right side of the wing is distracting. I'm being a little picky but the little piece of vegetation sticking in just below the top right leaf is bothersome. Border patrol is one of my mantras. I think it would look great as a gallery wrap. Beautiful image of the butterfly in its habitat. |
