Nice textures and lines and the yellow flower adds a focal point. I would not think of doing this so I'm alway intrigued by how creative people are. Can you explain a little more how you cut out the dahlia and layered it onto the manhole cover. What programs did you use for the process.I wasn't aware Retouch could do this. |

I like your composition as it gives it a place. There is no doubt you are in an alley with the dumpster, stained pavement, garbage and then a beautiful art piece to remind us to Love Life. It's often hard to love life when you are in squalid conditions. Nicely seen and photographed. |

I think I'm glad we don't have those critters here in the PNW. I had to look closely to see the cicada as he does blend in with the background. I agree with Jerry about masking the bug and removing Painteresque from him. I would like to see his details. |

Picture perfect as they say. Thank you for the detailed explanation. You had a perfect day with those beautiful clouds. |

You have a great young model. It will be fun if you include her in future images as she grows up. The one thing I find bothersome is the crooked horizon so I would definitely straighten that. The pole and tire are important in keeping her upright. The left leg doesn't bother me as it's obvious it is hanging off the pier. I like Bob's crop and then a vignette would pull the focus into this beautiful moment in time with your granddaughter. |

I have not looked at it in black and white but that is a good suggestion that I will try. |

Thanks Jerry. I did crop some off the top but as you suggest maybe I should crop a little more. |

A beautiful image and you caught the horses movement at just the right moment. I love that the legs are separated and several of the hooves are off the ground. I can see a little more detail such as the eye in the front horse but not in the smaller horse but not really sure that that is important. I like that you flipped the image so they are moving from left to right. I love the dust rising from their hooves and the glow of the setting sun behind them. I do like Sharon's edit especially that it enhances the rising dust. Wonderful image. |

From your description I feel you wanted the penny to be the main focus. If so, I think cropping in tight on the flower petals where the penny is lodged might better accomplish your goal. To me the brown subject along the right edge and all of the white specular highlights in the background are very distracting. My eye really doesn't know where to land. I tried a tighter crop but the high ISO made it impossible. |

I don't know if this is two against one or one against two but the poor squirrel on the bottom is taking the brunt of the fight. I like that the squirrels are mostly sharp but yet there is just enough softness to to show the fast action. It would be nice to know your camera settings. |

A beautiful sunset image. I like your crop as it takes the land mass out of the center of the image. I think you could leave a little more of the water to show more of the sun reflection. I agree with Mike in removing the stump or stick just to the right of the sun. I also like the tree silhouette and would also pull the shadows down a bit as I don't think we need to see the details in the tree. A very peaceful, calming image. Well done. |

A beautiful composition. I like how the greens pop and the sun star is exceptional. You did a great job removing the lower branch and I feel the removal of that branch greatly enhances the composition. Looking at the edited image you posted on 7/13 I agree with you on the tone. I like your original edited image much better. Nature often gives us peace and calm if we just stop and take it all in. |

This is a nice interaction of the two different types of butterflies. I am a bit surprised that the butterfly wings on the right are not sharp as your f stop was f/8 and the butterflies look to be on a fairly close plane. I think I would tone down the bright green in the background just a bit, it is nice bokeh. The out of focus leaves really don't bother me as the focus is on the butterflies. Adding a vignette will help to soften the edges and take more attention off of the leaves. |

Thanks Sharon. I like your crop much better. My focus was on all the leading lines and patterns in the hills from the sunset shadows. Your crop put the focus more at what I was aiming for. |
