What a great job to capture this brief moment in time. The B&W really works for this image. The shadow almost seems like a different subject. |

An interesting contrast in environmental diversity. Your title indicates that the main subject is the skyline but the foreground takes up a major part of the image. To me you have really captured the dramatic difference between the high rise steel and concrete city to the quiet natural environment of the shore. You stated that nicely in your last sentence. |

A very quiet scene that causes contemplation. The old building on the right with the reflections could stand on its own. Nicely seen and captured especially without your own reflection and I can't find the phone either. I wonder how it would look in B&W. |

I think it's fun to take an ordinary image and try different artistic effects. It's amazing how you can transform an image. I like how the effect introduced some nice colors. Nicely done. |

I really like your crop and edit. Great focus on the "grumpy" turtle but then I've never seen a turtle smile 😊. Those claws are impressive. |

You surprised me Dave. I was looking forward to a beautiful scenic but got a beautiful flower instead. I agree with what the others have said. I have tried the portrait mode several times but nothing to show for the attempt. The colors all work so well together and even on a sunny day the colors are not blown out. Great job. |

There is nothing growing on the hills, it's just the texture of the ground. It's not solid rock but almost like a volcanic gravel. You can see where wildlife has walked across the hills because you can see their tracks. There were some tracks in this image which I took out. The flowers are wildflowers. |

I think this is a little Black-capped Chickadee. I think there is some noise in the image from the high ISO that can easily be removed with Topaz DeNoise or a similar program. To me the bird looks a little soft. There is nice catch light in the eye. I think cropping it even tighter, maybe in a square format, would bring the chickadee more to the front and put more focus on him. I rarely try to photograph these little tweetie birds as they move too fast for me. |

A beautiful capture of the jay just before he hits the water. What was your shutter speed? I think your crop and flip works really well. If I didn't see the original I would not have know what the reflection was in the water so I think it might help to clone it out. I think you did a very nice job in post processing. The jay is sharp and the colors are beautiful. My only suggestion would be to tone down the bright areas in the background so the eye is not pulled back there. Very nice image. |

I think you have captured a wonderful sunset silhouette image of the elephant dining at days end. It would be nice to see the original and know your camera settings. I don't find the highlights in the sky bothersome as whites will be blown out when the sun is in the image. I think if it was toned down the bright areas would turn gray. I like that you have foreground, middle ground and background and they all work together to produce a very pleasing image. I have not been brave enough yet to do air travel in the U.S. let alone international. I'm glad you had a safe journey. |

My first reaction was WOW also. You really captured a special moment in the lifecycle of the Cicada. The insect is very sharp and I think your cropping in tight is very effective in keeping our eye on the whole process. I agree with Judith that you should enter this image in a contest. We don't have Cicadas here in the western US and I don't envy you except for this wonderful image. Bravo! |

Nice image of a GBH actually doing something. It looks sharp throughout and I especially like how the forward wing is somewhat backlite and shows all of the individual feathers. I think the square crop works well. I like how you deleted the coots and toned down the bright water under the GBH. I do see the water drop on the neck that just looks like a white spot unless you enlarge the image. Nice capture handheld, something I still have trouble with. |

The black on the right is the shadow caused by the setting sun. You have to photograph these hills from a distance and with the heat of the day you get atmospheric conditions that can cause some softness. |
