Fall is my favorite time of the year and the bright reds and yellows make this a very nice image. I like the dark branches coming across the top of the image and combined with the two trees on the right make a nice frame and shows the DOF with the small chair. It looks like an inviting place to spend some quiet time. |

I like your drive by shooting. Deer that become habituated around people can be dangerous because they still have their personal space and people get complacent in thinking they are tame and not dangerous. I'm alway driving so no drive by shooting for me 🥴. A good teaching image of maybe what not to do. |

My first impression was " Wow, I like this." The drama in the sky with the birds and the gold colors with the tree in silhouette is really compelling. Great job. I love to shoot trees in silhouette but you need the right background. I don't know if you could have shot this without the trees on the left but even with them there they don't take away from the main tree. Bravo!
PS it would be nice to see the original. |

I'm glad you showed the original as a reference or I might have been lost in my imagination. Great eye to see this critter in the wood. These have been desperate times in more than one way. |

A beautiful winter day in the Midwest. We got about a foot of snow in February and that was enough for me. I grew up in MI but here in WA at the lower levels where snow is not common things grind to a halt. Only the main roads are maintained. Luckily it usually melts in a couple of days. The snow is white and the sky is blue and all is good. |

I love that you captured the desert cactus and the mountain snow. It tells a story of environmental contrasts in a few thousand feet. I like that you have a cactus with arms as it seems to be saying "I give up."
Enjoy your hikes in the desert. |

This geranium owes you its life. I like your composition and cropping. I often don't think about reversing an image but I think it works nicely here with the bud looking to the right. For me the purple background is too much. Red and green are complimentary colors so I think using the green as a background would work better. To me the bud and stem look sharp except for the very tip of the bud. I'm not sure if the red has been blown out a bit there or if it needs a little more depth of field. When photographing red flowers it's very important to watch the red channel in the histogram as reds are easily blown out. |

Nice capture of this little critter learning to eat a nut. Nice catch light in the eye and the head is very sharp. I agree with the others in removing the twigs behind the squirrel and adding a vignette. |

You took advantage of a bright spot on a cold winter day. I like your crop and the use of a white vignette. I agree with Mike in decreasing the vignette slightly in the lower right corner. For me not seeing the branch to the border makes the vignette work. I also think the white vignette works well as it blends in with the snowy background. To me the composition works well with the branch on a slight angle and the single leaf over the apple. |

You captured a beautiful moment between baby and mom. I like the closer cropping several members have done and I like Mike's edit highlighting the giraffes heads and the main focal point. You didn't post the original so I'm curious as to what caused the pink squares just to the right of the mom's ear. To me it looks like artifact. For me pulling out the red/orange that LC did makes the giraffes look sunburned and unnatural. |

This is a beautiful mountain scene and while I agree with some comments I disagree with other comments. For me the muddy foreground is a distraction. I just did a simple crop into more of a panorama. For me the mountains and the valley are the main focus and not the reflection. The water although calm looks murky or flat without a nice reflection. I agree with Mike in boosting some of the color in the mountains and maybe a little more contrast. |

First I have a question or need some clarification of how much "hand of man" is allowed in our images. A few months back I considered entering an image of a fall Colorado mountain scene that had a small old cabin in the meadow. I sent the image to Sharon to see if it met the rules and was told no. So, I need clarification on Mike's image where the wharf/dock is the major part of the scene. Thanks.
Now to my comments: I like that you cropped out the seaweed in the bottom right as to me it is unidentifiable as seaweed and a distraction. Your post processing rescued the image as the fog and white vignette add a mystery to the scene. To me if you pulled out more texture in the clouds it would defeat the fog effect. I agree with the others in cropping a little more on the left to shorten the board. |
