I'm glad you had a person on the trail to give perspective of how tall the trees are. Nice light and shadow. I too will have to look into the stylus. Thanks for sharing the original. |

A wonderful arrangement of beautiful flowers and the oak leaves. I like the composition and how the colors all work together. This would make a nice card. |

I love reflections. I like that you kept part of the right bank to anchor the scene. Very peaceful with the calm water and reflected trees. A hint of color showing Fall is on the way. I too would like to see this with full Fall color. |

I'm glad you included the original. What a transformation. Even though the colors are over the top I really like the effect. I have not used the HDR in Snapseed so may need to look in to it. You did well taking a simple subject and making a stunning image. |

I can't believe this was taken in the dark and hand held, amazing. I need to go phone shopping! A great job capturing this scary subject as well as giving me a nudge. |

I love how the curve of the path leads me into the image. The fresh snow and the fall colors in the trees show it is time to transition from fall to winter. It looks like a lovely place to take a walk. Very nice. |

You caught a great action/interaction image of the jays. I agree with what the others have said. I like the editing that Mike did as you can now see the beautiful detail in the Stellar jays. The background is still an issue for me as it is too busy and bright. A difficult shooting situation with all the contrast. I'm sure the background could be dealt with but it would be tedious. |

I was not shooting from a blind. I was just sitting on the ground near by. They have no fear of humans. Sitting quietly the chicks would come close to check you out. Sometimes the chicks would be in the middle of the road so we could not get by in the golf carts so someone would get out and move the chick to the side of the road. Also, before we moved the golf carts we had to check all around and underneath to make sure a chick had not gone under the cart. |

I have yet to capture one of these guys so I would be pretty happy with this image. I like your cropping to bring the bird in closer and to the left with room to fly. The eye and head are sharp and for me not having the wing tips sharp is ok as it shows action. I had to look closely to see what he had in his beak. The drops of water flying through the air also shows action. I think the white around the neck look fine. I have gone back and worth between the original and the edited image and I don't see a problem but I'm also viewing the images on an iPad which might make a difference. I think it's a great capture. |

My first impression as I look at the image is that the bird and branch are somehow suspended in space. With a black or dark background the image has no boundary. This is where putting a stroke or light frame around the image tells the viewer where the image ends and anchors the elements. There is nice light on the bird and also a nice catch light in the eye. I think you captured his contemplative state. It would be nice to see the original. |

What a beautiful place to hike and live near. I love the transition of the colors from the orange in the foreground to the light green and yellow of the aspens and then the darker green of the fir trees. The color variations also enhance the ridges. I can't tell if there is any detail in the sky that could be pulled out. I sort of feel like I would like to crop out the gray sky but I also like the distant mountain peaks. |

I rarely think about flipping an image but as I compare the two images I do think it works better flipped. It gives me a more relaxed feeling where the original seems unnatural. I love reflections and the trees reflecting in the rippled water is very nice. For me it still feels a little dark. There are some beautiful fall colors in the trees that I would like to see enhanced. |

What a beautiful image. I'm torn between the color and monochrome. I think they are both excellent and can stand on there own depending on how you want to use them. I would put either one on my wall. I think the monochrome does show the texture a little better; it's a matter of taste. The soft brown/gold tones and the sun star work well together. You were fortunate to have some clouds to also reflect the colors of the rising sun. I wouldn't change a thing and I would consider it competition worthy. |
