That's an interesting thought. I'm not sure Painteresque has an option to do that. I will have to check it out. |

A morning cup of Joe and a little art thrown in to make it special. Nice that you thought to take a picture of it. The artistic background also adds to the image. |

I love everything about this scene. The crashing wave, the pattern of the receding wave in the sand, the fisherman (nice that he wore a red shirt) and the red boat in the distance and beautiful clouds in the sky. What more could you ask for. A beautiful composition. So nice that you can walk on the beach with the wind in your face and maybe feel a little normal again. |

I'm a train lover also, especially old ones showing their years. I love that you used B&W. Not seeing the original one doesn't know how much color there was in the scene or if it was already pretty monochromatic. A nice representation of a place and time in railroad history.
I use iResize but it doesn't show the size of the image I resize in Mb so I'm always hoping it meets the 1Mb requirement after I resize. |

Great eye to spot this guy/gal. Your crop nicely brought the viewer up close and personal. I often forget how close I can photograph with my phone camera. |

They look like succulent towers. Great dof and sharpness. I can see a lot of mini images within this larger image. Always pays to have that camera in your pocket. Well done. |

A very pastoral peaceful scene. Kudos to you for getting up before daylight and riding a bike to capture the image at sunrise. Nice to see good old fashion hay bales not wrapped in plastic like marshmallows. |

Wow, Mike, you do far more than I would ever think of doing to transform an image. I just don't have that artistic mind. I do love your transformation. I don't find the bright sun spot as especially distracting. In some way I would like to see the owl a little brighter but with the sun behind him then he is obviously in the shade. I really can't add any suggestion, I am finding that I like it as you transformed it into a more beautiful image. |

Beautiful composition and good eye to see this and then capture it. I love how the leaf tips point toward the wonderful blue and gold bokeh. A lot of complimentary colors that really attract and hold the eye. My only suggestion is a slight crop or removal of the leaf tip from the left side and maybe a slight crop on the right to remove the branch in the lower right corner. You may be able to use content aware to remove that branch as I would not want to crop much which would also remove the beautiful areas of the image. The shadows on the leafs don't really bother me as it gives an indication of the time of day. |

How fortunate you are to just sit on your deck and photograph this little hummer. Beautiful composition and good focus on the eye with a little catch light. I agree with a tighter crop to put the main focus on the bird and less on the flowers. The flower in the back doesn't really bother me but a vignette would help decrease any attention it might draw. I might even try a white vignette. |

This is definitely a Canada Goose. I like your cropping and treatment of the water to add some color. I think there is good detail in all of the goose except on the white chest. I don't use spot metering either and would agree with Mike if you do use it. Blown out whites can't be recovered. I also like the reflection in the water and how the goose is looking back as if he/she is expecting company. You also got nice catch light in the eye. Very nice. |

Beautiful capture of this fast little hummer. I agree with Mike that it seems a bit flat so maybe a bit of dynamic contrast on jut the bird would help. I love that the flash put a nice catch light in the eye. The tree on the left doesn't really bother me, I fact I didn't see it at first as the hummer really attracted and held my eye.
I did a week hummer workshop in British Columbia some years back with John Gerlach and we used three flashes, one on the background, one pointing down and one pointing up at the point where the hummer would be as it fed at the feeder. I'm no flash expert but my understanding is that the shutter speed is not a factor in stopping the action but the flash speed that stops the action. If you Google "John Gerlach humming bird photography" he has written several articles in Nature Photography magazine. |

Thank you for the comments. Yes, in hindsight a higher shutter speed would have been better. It is very deceiving when it seems calm where you are standing but you forget that up on those hills it can be different. There are a lot of details to consider and sometimes I just get caught up in the moment of beauty before me. |
