Thanks Melanie, and to the others who asked about darkening the sky. I agree! I found the idea of masking the foliage daunting, but its not impossible, so I will give it a try! |

Just from seeing the group thumbnails, I was immediately drawn to this Emil. I echo Ariks comment. It's perfectly laid out with many interesting elements and above all, mood. I think it's the leaning of the trees that makes it extra special. |

I like the way you framed this, Henry, with the triangle bordering the lower right. I also like the row of buildings in the back. The image has good depth. |

"Stark" is the mood here, Charles. It feels a little darker, heavier, than it needs to, in my opinion. I think it could benefit from a little more contrast, making the dark even darker and having some lighter tones. But even as such, you've conveyed the mood you were after. |

More than just a good scene for IR, it's an excellent composition due to the center island. Not only does it fit just right in between the banks, but the triangle mimics another triangle formed by the base of the clouds down to the trees. I'ts fascinating, and engaging. |

The different tonalities of the foliage really bring this alive, Melanie. I didn't see the lights, but my eye did go to the side and back, very inviting. |

I was in Bangkok several times the last few years, Steve, enjoy your winter there! Lots to photograph.
I have to admit it took me a while to find the "new" in the picture, they align so well. Once I did, it made the picture. Nicely seen and presented. |

Kieu-Hanh, can you remind us of your location? |

Thanks Kieu-Hanh, the grapes, when they bloom, have quite a sweet aroma, mores than the "farewell to spring" flowers shown here. These are purely ornamental, and for fun. Roses are sometimes planted at the ends, as a mildew indicator, but those aren't sold either. |

I can feel the movement, the action of this scene. As has been pointed out, some of the people add interest, others, not so much. Playing around with a slightly closer crop might improve it, but it's a good photojournalism image as is. |

Great capture of this orchestra hall, Bill. The noise isn't a problem for me. The panoramas seem to have gotten better on recent iPhones, I will have to give this a try! |

A nice moment in time, Ruth. You're in Texas, right? When it's warm here in California points east and south seem to get snow. Thanks for sharing. |

It makes a nice abstract, Wayne. I'm not sure we need to know and identify the turtle, it works best as an abstract. |

As is sometimes said, if you're going to take a picture of someone else's art, make sure to include a context that makes it your own. You've done that here Steve, I think as Sue points out that the desaturation of the background makes this work. |

Yes Sue, thanks.
What you're referring to, is that roses are often planted at the ends of the rows. They will get powdery mildew before grapes do, and thus serve as an indicator. |
