Thanks, yes I agree Melanie. Sounds like you're after something similar to Emil's crop. |

I like the angle you've used for the tracks, Emil, and of course the sky, done in your trademark soft style. It has nice mood. |

The juxtaposition works for me, Henry; very nice. At first, the window panes felt like a distraction, but for me, they work too but more so with the far right view of the sky cropped out. But you probably already considered this. |

A place I've been many times, Gary. Emil's take is interesting because it separates the two strongest elements. That sky is so compelling it really does start to compete with the dam itself. Also I find the top half more whimsical, natural, whereas the bottom half is more "industrial" etc. Interesting shot! |

This one recalls for me my Utah-trecking days, very nice, lovely scene. I have to echo Arik's comment about wishing the mountain had more light, however. Great sky as usual! |

Images like this are fun to make because they can use any objects available. As you said, it's not about the objects, but about the way the shapes, tones and textures come together. While the courthouse alone might have needed to be grounded, with the lamppost it works nicely, and succeeds. |

The foreground grass sure pops, Melanie, especially in the revision you did for Emil! They kind of steal the show, but that's ok, I like that it's fun, and different. |

Thanks, Emil. Both reducing the exposure on the lilies, and the crop, places emphasis on the tree, which I was after also. This is much better, although I still prefer the darker sky. |

Thanks, Steven. I may have tilted the phone upwards a bit to frame the shot (this is the phone camera group ;). I'm undecided between the straightening of the perspective, or not. Thanks for weighing in. |

I like the idea of one close up and others in the background, Wayne. As Sue says, you're main flower needs a little more room. |

Good points, Steven. Alas, people are ever present at the beautiful places around the world it seems. The ruins are made mostly of brick. I wish psa would increase the resolution max for these groups, as my high resolution monitor renders many images soft was well... |

I think we call these "lupine" here in California, Ruth. I've always wanted to photograph a field of them (I think you did last year) but this one of a single cluster is also very nice against that green undistracting background. |

The spring sky definitely adds a nice feel to this, Sue, it's a nice moment in time and good way to document your garden. |

The pose makes for an interesting story, Steven. I'm thinking maybe black and white would bring out more of the mood you're trying to convey. Or, if you were closer and with a conventional camera, you could have blurred the background just a bit; I think that is what is distracting me a little. |

I just had to comment right after posting this, it's such a beautiful image Kiev-Hahn. It's the wide angle that makes it special for me. And the framing of the tree, the shadows, the color. I was thinking it must be one of those known places where photographers gather, but it sounds like you found this on your own, kudos! |
