I like the mimicry here of the crosses and stepping stone centers, Henry. I think Gary's version improves it a bit. Good job of putting an original take on an often photographed scene. |

Emil, I've come to appreciate your softer images as just your style, so it works fine for me as is. If you agree with the others about more contrast, that's fine too. It's very nicely composed and laid out. |

The foreground tree trunk makes this for me, Palli. It frames the image so well, and right along the sun line also.
Alas, people on phones are all too common in todays times, but they say it's like yester years images of people reading newspapers ;) |

Before reading your caption, Gary, my initial reaction was, unusual, different.
I have to admit I'm more of a traditionalist but I can understand the interest in AI, and it is certainly interesting to see. |

I like your composition Charles, it was immediately engaging. The subtle curve in the road contributes, it leads my eye around to the right rather than the trees becoming a wall. I love the shadows and slope of the hill.
Not being a fan of sky replacements, I think your original sky, if made very dark, would work fine here, the rest of the image being as strong as it is. |

The tones are unusual and certainly add some mood to this Arik. In addition to the blue in the clouds, I also feel a little bit of magenta in the tree. The sky has an impending storm kind of feel. For me, there is just a tad too much foreground on the bottom. |

You have quite a collection of barns, Melanie. Very nice, as the others have said. For me I'd like to crop in just a bit right side and top. |

Gary's is nicely processed. But to me it seems sky replacements never look 100% natural, there's always a tiny sense of something off ;) |

Thanks, Kieu-Hanh. I was wondering about the condition of the statue as well, thinking maybe it was just luck to find one or two in good condition. But your comment makes me think maybe it was in fact reconstructed. I wish I knew for sure! |

Pat, I'm a fan of road shots, and how they lead the eye, so I might have left about half of the road part in this image. I think if you wanted to make this about the sky and sunset, you'd need to crop even more of the road out. I would also increase saturation a bit to bring out the colors more.
You've captured a nice moment in the sky to be sure! |

I agree with your comments, Steve, thanks.
Regarding scale, that's kind of the point of the image, to make the statue look like a large single statue overlooking the river. I'll post a wider shot. |

Great shot for the season, Kieu-Hanh, and my only issue was solved by Steven's edit. I was going to suggest cropping but his edit works so much better. I love the colors and whimsical feel of this. |

I love skies like this Ruth, very nice! As the sky is the point of interest, I think you handled the ground well, just a small amount, with little detail, keeps us focused on the storm clouds and the sun rays. |

Hi Wayne yes I think it works ok with the reflection of the mountains in the water being the main point of interest, for me. I agree with the limitations you describe, and look at this rather as a good example of how the phone camera allows us to capture the interesting moments we come upon in everyday life. |

I've found that the iPhone built in processing works best in midday or harsher light, and becomes less flattering towards the golden hour. That said, this could certainly be realistic, given haze and smoke etc, perhaps not true to your scene however, if that matters to you. It certainly does result in some beautiful colors for this sunrise shot! |
