Nice landscape, Henry, and I think Gary's edit adds a bit of mood. Although it's nice to see the context for this majestic volcano, another take would have been to zoom in a little closer on the mountain itself. But catching both the snow on the mountains and the canyons in the foreground tells a story of the majestic western landscape. |

Lovely, elegant, graphical image, Emil; I like how your rendering removed the border in the back. It would have been nice to have a slightly higher vantage point, that would have put more emphasis on the formation that looks like spokes way in the back. Gary's improving the whites makes a big contribution. |

Even without getting into, what shapes or objects one might detect in the clouds, I find it's enjoyable just for the sense of mood it conveys, the whimsey of a sky like this on a spring day. Very nice, Palli. |

I love the sense of mood in this, Gary, so wonderfully seen and executed. The sense of decay, the mimicry of the foreground fence and the too-many power lines, so much to enjoy and absorb, that I don't think the image needs the additional clouds. (I'll be the one nay-sayer on replacing skies generally, in an otherwise realistic looking image, not for me. I guess it gets to is the purpose of the image documentary or creative, and does the photographer want to convey that to the viewer.)
The other minor issue I have here, is the immediate impact is of a nocturnal image. But then I keep wondering where that bright side light is coming from, as if someone left the headlights on, until I realize it's a daytime shot with nice contrast. But I think this is more a reflection of my own perception and doesn't affect the success of the image.
It's very enjoyable and compelling for me overall Gary. |

You certainly have a style for images like this, Charles, leading lines, in simple, effective images. I am with Henry on the issue on selective color; I think it often works better if the color is sufficiently muted, sometimes to be barely visible, and less so as the full original color. |

I agree Arik that the infrared here makes for great contrast, and a very unusual rendering of the subject! Compositionally, the sense of letdown for the viewer upon discovering the cat is a sculpture is inevitable. But I do think you've addressed the issue of photographing artwork in your response to Melanie, and that you've succeeded in putting a very unique take on this sculpture. |

Glad you enjoyed Costa Rica, Melanie. I can just feel the humidity, nice sense of mood, and good use of a misty day. I like the different texture in the foreground trees. |

Thanks very much Gary and I like your edit, I hadn't noticed the mass of grasses in the f/g much in need of some definition; your version improves. |

I like the way you've presented this, Kieu-Hanh, showing the angles, lines and shadows, even the passers-by. Some might quibble with the distorted buildings in the distance, but I find that adds to my enjoyment of the scene, as something out of the ordinary. Your caption, and the use of the sun in the image, also increase my enjoyment. You've conveyed an eery peacefulness, and I'm reminded it was a clear blue sky day when the 9/11 tragedy occurred.... |

The crop and the flip do help this, Gene, and you have definitely conveyed the chaos. Some viewers embrace chaos and disorder more readily than others, and I have to admit I have a hard time getting beyond the chaos here. |

Thanks Bob, I had forgotten that's an option now, so no this wasn't shot as raw but will work on that. |

I was there some fifteen years ago, and didn't realize you could go to the top of the arch! Very nice view from up there, Pat. Good job on cropping out the sky, it makes it look like the city goes on forever. I think my rendering of this scene would have been closer to the original, it feels a little "pushed" to me, but we all have different preferences on that of course. |

It's a nice, family shot, Ruth, and that perfectly placed bowl of water is an emblem of the kind of summer the country is having! |

I really like this, Quang, and is a testament to not overlooking the vertical shot when shooting landscapes. Here, the vertical allows the clouds to dominate, which is where the interest is, and the land accompanies with the leading line of the path. I guess, if you can't get print-less sand, might as well go all the way with footprints. I also like the way the sky isn't overdone. This image shows how recent iPhones do an excellent job on landscapes, without the need for a lot of post processing. |

There's nice dusk light in this, Bob, and the two birds are just right.
When you mention the app distressed FX, is that what we're seeing in the brush on the left? If so, that part doesn't quite work for me, as the rest of the image looks realistic. Overall, a nice moment. |
