66 Feb 22 Reply That's a very subtle adjustment, Emil, but I do think it improves the image. I love the clouds in this, and just noticed your color version which is also engrossing. Feb 8th
66 Feb 22 Reply Thank you Palli I do think your edit improves the image. Feb 2nd
66 Feb 22 Comment Very nice, Emil. We often discuss contrast in regard to your images, and while I realize this is a stylistic choice, I think here a bit more contrast might help set off the foreground hay bale, which is such a necessary part of this image, but blends in here too much. I'd also like some black in the sky, but understand if you prefer the softer look. I think this is another image that would benefit from a vignette as well, Feb 1st
66 Feb 22 Comment Very nice, Palli, and I was thinking exactly along the lines of Gary's edit, which I think is an excellent improvement, focusing one more on the subject, and the vignette works so well. Feb 1st
66 Feb 22 Comment I think your edit here is far more impactful than the original, Gary, much as I like the mimicry of the trees. The boldness of the reds is quite engrossing, and you had me guessing as to where in Asia this was taken, kudos on a timely rendition. Feb 1st
66 Feb 22 Comment While Gary's sky is dramatic and more compelling, I think it starts to take away from the schoolhouse, and in the end I like your rendering more, but I'd take the overall exposure down just a tad, maybe up the contrast, as the image feels in need of some rich black tones.
I applaud your positioning regarding the foreground post, but I'm still not sure on this element, and look forward to the other comments....
An enjoyable scene overall Arik nicely rendered.

66 Feb 22 Comment I love the flower, Melanie.
I like Garys edit, but I'll also be perhaps the lone voice in saying the original would work with a few edits (the top part and the umbrella at right removed). As you've presented it the tonalities are a bit too close to get separation of the flower and sky. Still, I think you're on to something here.

86 Feb 22 Reply Thanks Bob, I checked and iphone8 plus does have portrait mode, I will have to remember to try this for macro type shots like this in the future! Feb 19th
86 Feb 22 Reply Thank you Kieu-Hanh, that's interesting about the two shadows! I think there must be a second flower just to the right which caused that. And good point about the tighter crop. Feb 16th
86 Feb 22 Comment Because there are so many other diagonals in this image, Kieu-Hahn, I didn't notice the leaning poles until after reading your caption again. I'm a little unsure. For me, I think it works either way. For me the image is more about all the interesting lines, more of a graphical image than a documentary one or a travel image. For the latter type of image, the corrected one is probably preferable. I look forward to hearing what others think. Feb 6th
86 Feb 22 Comment I like the way the road underscores the trees, Pat, and the way you have kept distracting elements out of the scene. The contrast between the flowering trees and the dormant trees in the background is so emblematic of spring. Feb 6th
86 Feb 22 Comment This is such a great choice for black and white, Gene, with the bold black and white tonalities, the repeating patterns of the chairs and tables, the mounds of snow on the tables, so enjoyable, especially for a California viewer. A couple of little touches that bring me into the scene - I notice it's still snowing, and the foreground chairs diagonal positions evoking the human scene of the last person who got up to leave the table. Feb 6th
86 Feb 22 Comment I love the simplicity of this Belinda, and the color is compelling for sure! There's a soft feel to it, and, similar to Bob's image, I like the separation from the background. Are you thinking as in digital - painting, or real painting? Feb 6th
86 Feb 22 Comment Nice nature shot, Bob, it all comes together well and doesn't look over processed. I like the way you've separated the background. Feb 6th
