Thanks for taking the time, Gary, yes that's better. For some reason, it seems images lose some sharpness in the conversion from full size to the <1MB size we use, not sure why or how to avoid, but I promise you the original is sharp. I was going to show you a screen shot, but it's 8MB lol. |

Yes, sometimes even just a hint of sepia works so well, lovely! |

Your positioning of the sculpture, just makes this image, Emil, very nice.
One thing I notice on the equally nice original, is the separation of tones in the plants / flowers. They just pop. It would probably take some work to reintroduce that effect in the black and white edit. Also, a bit more white in the potted shrubs, and the distant tree might improve too.
I too am running low on images and resolve to get out and shoot more IR this year! |

I have to admit, I hadn't noticed the people until reading Gary's comment; my bad, but perhaps a Melanie says a bit more detail in that area would improve the image.
But it's a lovely image, Palli, understated, yet beautifully composed. I particularly like the sky. |

I just love this one, Gary, right up my ally with it's abstract and graphical qualities. Good call on leaving the base of the forest. The reflection is just beautiful, and the diagonal log is what makes the image for me. The blacks are super rich, but I think there's room on the right side of the histogram for just a bit more white. |

Good job on the sky, Charles. I would echo Gary's comments in particular, and like the drama his version introduces. |

This is such a joy to ponder, Arik!
Although I usually tend towards Gary's idea on the sky, preferring black to a reintroduced blue sky, here, it was the blue patches that captured my attention, and what "makes the image" for me. I agree with the others' comments about the post and chain. |

You always set up just right Melanie for your shots, its as if you clipped the branches. Very nice, but Gary makes a good point about a possible alternate version. |

There's so much to enjoy here, Kieu-Hanh, and its interesting how we each find something to draw upon. I agree with Bob and Belinda's comments, but for me, I've always loved leaves on a road, especially the way the scatter about as it blown by a fall breeze. I enjoy the mood evoked by your image, nicely done. |

Thanks for taking the time, Bob. I am often prodded to boost the contrast in my images, and usually with good reason! In this image, I kind of liked the softer "dreamy" feel, and also I'm hesitant to edit my phone images too much because I find the jpg's often degrade, where a raw image would work better. (I've heard one can take raw images with an iPhone, but am not sure on the procedure). Still, I can see and appreciate what you were after, thanks again! |

You did a great job with this app, Pat. The image comes together very well, naturally, doesn't look at all fabricated, and you've found a great way to present these beautiful mums, which as we can see were kind of lost in the original bouquet image. I can't think of any suggestions for improvement. |

Technically this is very well done, Gene. I am surprised to see a phone taken night shot that holds up this well. But I do think, to fully enjoy the scene, I need a little background info such as Stephen has suggested. |

Your image highlights how just showing up at the right time a day takes one so far in making a beautiful image, Bob. My only nitpick would be that the subject of the image, the little island with the birds, is in shadow. The foreground bird, sky and background are all beautiful.
I've often wondered why phone cameras resort to 50 ISO even in low light, you would think they would have figured that out by now. Maybe image quality quickly degrades at higher ISO...? |

I actually like the crop you have, Belinda, and would just prefer an even-ing out of the light a little bit. Another way to get to the same place would be to increase the exposure of the entire image, then add a vignette. I will be curious to see what others think.

You did a better job with the night exposure than I usually do, Ruth. It's a good one for the season, and I like the pretty purple light. |

Belinda, your processing really makes this pop, I don't think you've overdone the colors. If you added the center lighting, I'm not sure about that, the eye goes right there, and maybe the wheel is of more importance, but I might either take the light there down a bit or try it elsewhere.
Isn't that true, our most cherished travel images come with a bag of fond memories and stories! I appreciate you sharing yours here, it sounds like you had quite a day. |
