Thanks Charles I think you've picked up on the flow being from the lower right side, that's helpful, and will give what you've suggested a try. |

As the saying goes, Emil, if you're going to take a picture of another person's art, you have to put your own take on it, and you've definitely done so here. Your infrared partially colored scene is far more interesting than the actual color one, I would imagine. There's some tension added by the slope of the scene while the eye is level. And while I appreciate Gary's spooky version, I really do have an affinity for your softer style and quite agree with the version you've posted. |

I like the simplicity of this, Palli. I think it very much needs the foliage you included at the bottom, nice. The building foliage, while of interest, needs this foliage at the bottom, to play off of, to be complete. I also like the black sky. Overall it's an image akin to my own style and find it compelling. |

Couple of things appear to me, Gary; the position of the three sailboats, primarily. It doesn't need to be a perfect triangle, but they way you've captured them, I just want to nudge one or the another, don't like the two at right being so aligned.
Secondly, and I noticed this on Charles' image also, the high contrast landscape while compelling, diminishes the sky. Likely this is just a stylistic difference to our approaches, but I prefer the sky to take on a more prominent role.
Aside from this, I can see what attracted you to the scene, and I very much appreciate you sharing something that your a bit on the fence about as it makes for a great discussion. |

I can see why Gary likes this Charles, great contrast! I agree with Aria on the crop, you had some nice foreground there. I'm often tempted to crop too close, too, sometimes I just need to step back and give it some time. In addition to the elements of interest, there's the "space" factor. I've no other suggestions for improvement, nice job. |

This made me smile, Arik, just lovely.
I agree with Gary's point about the other side of the building.
Also, I don't think the fence at left contributes. With that cropped out, the scene becomes even more dreamy, wistful.
The grassy foreground and hint of the blue sky all contribute to a scene with wonderful mood; great job.
Edit: seeing your response to Gary, I still think it would be nice if you could color that side red, even if the original was gray or brown as you say. |

I had never heard of this place, so this is quite fresh to me, and beautiful, Melanie! I love the way you've set it up with the barn at far left, etc. It seems to have the slightest tilt right, to me, but as no one else has picked up on that, could be "just me". It would be nice if one could bring out the reflection even more, and as Charles said, take it more of a dream like direction. |

Thanks, Gary, I agree. I found myself wondering just where to have a pure black, could be either the sky or tree trunks, I suppose. Harder to address will be that big tombstone up front... |

I'm thinking if this image is the result of a large crop, as in it was a small part of the original scene, that could be the problem. A suggestion might be to include more empty space around the bug, and it might be sharper. |

Ruth, it may have something to do with the way you are exporting the image when you send it to me. I notice the file size is quite a bit smaller than those of the other members. If you let me know what program you are using I'll see if I can help at all, either here or via email. |

Just love this, Kieu-Hanh, thanks for showing that one doesn't need an expensive SLR camera etc to make a beautiful compelling image. The layout, simplicity, and reflection all work to make this top notch. |

As a fan of repeating lines and shapes, I love your image Pat. The pondering boy is a nice bonus. Looking at the original, I wouldn't have minded if you had gone wider with your edit, all the way to the fence. |

He's quite the critter, Ruth! , interesting color and patterns, like so much of nature. I'm not sure how close you got, and you probably already considered this, but sometimes backing off a bit with the phone camera helps with focus, as they can't focus when too close, just a thought. |

I'm a fan of backlit, too, Gene, although it's a challenge to control sometimes. Here, you have enough foliage to diffuse the light a bit, and the result is a beautiful abstract of saturated color, held together by the branches, very nice. |

I love this, Belinda. It's an image made in-camera, and it's all about where you place the different elements, which you've certainly done to my liking. The complementary colors, and textures, are all bonuses, nicely done! |
