Thank you Arik. I do like the wideness of the river at the base of the scene, which would be lost if cropped from the right side. So perhaps I agree with you on the composition after all. |

When I first saw this, I assumed you had cloned some leaves in, but in reality of course, as Palli points out, it's just a very effective crop. This is another image, like Charles', that evokes some wonderful mood, however I do agree with Gary, that brightening some of the leaves a bit more would be even more effective. Currently, I think the tonality of the leaves surrounding the outhouse are too similar to those of the outhouse. That's just a minor observation, overall I enjoy this. |

I like your minimalist composition here Palli, and my only suggestion for improvement would be to echo Gary's suggestion regarding the clouds.
I think the bright foliage makes a good background for the almost silhouette quality of the leafless branches. Nicely conceived! |

Interesting image again, Gary! I think your first versión accomplished what you were after, ghost like and ethereal. Adding more tone back in would usually be recommended for a more classical portrait, but I think it may detract from the ghostly mood. Either way, both versions are very well done. |

I agree with the others Charles in that you've created a classic infrared mood here, very nice. My only minor issue is that the very bright foreground leaves compete with the bridge for my attention, creating kind of ping pong effect. It doesn't seem to be an issue for others, so probably not a big deal. |

This is an image akin to my own style, Arik, and I very much enjoy it, especially the left side. I'm a little unsure as to whether the obscured building on the right contributes, or detracts for me. I might have been tempted to shoot it as a vertical, or crop to more square. But regardless, it's lovely.
I find on my own images, even though I may have increased the contrast a bit from the original, that Gary and Palli often show me that I could have done more, and I think that is the case here. I find their edits improve this, or perhaps something in between, but of course in the end it's a matter of personal preference. |

Black and white tends to help focus attention on graphic elements like lines, shapes and patterns, and I think that's what helps this one work, Melanie. One could play around with a tint as in the original, for a more otherworldly feel, given this setting. But it's very enjoyable as presented here. |

I actually enjoy the background very much, Marilyn! But it does tend to compete with the subject flower, so as Phill says reducing the saturation, or even increasing the blur, might help. |

Hi Ruth,
I can only echo the others' comments. Nice sharpness, color, and a good one for the season. One idea on the right side being cut off, is that sometimes if you cut off the left side by a similar amount, the image regains it's "balance". |

As has been said Kieu-Hanh, you found just the right background to show this ornament. I do like Phill's idea about taking this to a more creative level. If you decide to try it out, please post back. But even as such it's an enjoyable image. |

The #2 set of flowers does make a nice addition to the first set. It makes a bit of a frame. I will have to try out this app, looks like the possibilities are endless! |

Wonderful creative effect, Phill. I do agree with Belinda's comment about that little shadow.
It looks like Superimpose X offers blending modes like in Photoshop? I will have to try it out! |

Intriguing image, indeed! And I agree with Phill's suggestion about some edge burning, or a bit of vignetting, to focus attention.
I would also suggest, it would be helpful to see the original of images like this, to see what the filter or effects is accomplishing. |

Thanks Phillipa.
Good point about the mountains, I usually try to avoid them, but have better luck with longer lenses. I find the wider phone lens gives me too much foreground, to my taste anyway. I will take a look at upping the contrast a bit. |
