What a nice use of an everyday subject, Rich, well composed, clean, interesting repeating shapes and patterns. |

Just wonderful simplicity, and symmetry, Peter, the positioning of the birds is priceless, and I like how you saw that this would work in black and white. To me it's made truly special by the fact that it's real (I know that doesn't matter to many).
The only thing that gives me pause is the shade of gray background is close tonally to the reflection, not sure if something might be done about that, or if it's even a problem really. |

Yes, Ed, I like this version better, the positioning of the bird and surfer makes more sense, to me. |

Ideally off to the left a little, but even off to the right a little might work. In this version, they're both somewhat in the center, yet not interacting. If you'd care to share the other version where it's heading away, please do so here in the comments section and we'll see what others think too. |

I have fond memories of shooting this scene back in 2008, Jen. Including waiting for those pesky clouds to clear completely, and they never seem to. The foreground hills seem almost painterly, which, if natural, is quite a nice effect. I think the Bush works fine for foreground. |

Like Ed, I really like what you were after here Albert, but find the ship is rendered just a bit too dark. Or that it blends in with the background sky just a bit too much. If you are so inclined, I think tweaking this just a bit could improve an already interesting image. |

Yes, the clouds wrapping around the peak really make this as Ed points out. In fact, a square crop might even improve, by focusing more attention on the peak. I don't find the reflection quite as compelling. Either way, very nice Don. |

Truly beautiful symmetry Adrian, great detail. The hdr works well here, it doesn't look overdone, and you've controlled the brightness coming in the windows. Very nice! |

I wish the bird were positioned differently, Ed, but can't have it all I suppose. ;)
They make for an interesting subject, and I like the vignette. |

As Ed says, John, the symmetry is really nice here. It also works well despite not being "grounded". It's a great subject for black and white, with it's beautiful tonalities, lines shapes and patterns. The sky is a bonus. |

You often seem to find beautiful cloudscapes, Emil.
Good comments posted above. I think since you didn't get the effect you were after on the water, one possibility might be able to crop it out altogether, making the image about the bridge, and the sky. The way the shoreline seems to tilt downward unsettles me a bit, maybe that's just me. Interestingly, when you took the shot, you took the shoreline level and the bridge slanting, so maybe you were conflicted by this as well. |

You've certainly put your own touches on this sculpture, Palli! One suggestion I might have, would to put a lesser level of the painterly effect on the foliage than you have on the lizard. I think that would have the effect of making the lizard look even stranger. Very nice. |

I agree with both Charles' and Palli's comments Gary. I love the way you've rendered the carts. For me, the bottom have of the image is compelling enough to hold my interest on its own, even without the Flood filter, which I'm not a huge fan of. But I do enjoy the sharpness and black tones of the carts. |

I think it still works as IR Charles, for me, the bits of white foliage give it that bit of whimsy. But for me it's the composition that feels like it's not perhaps the best crop. The beautiful reflection seems to be the subject, but then the foliage and fence on the right are also interesting, so to me it does really come together, or flow as far as the eye moving around the scene goes. I'm thinking a crop of the middle, or the right side, might work better. |

Very nice, John. Looking up into trees images can tend to look all the same, but you've composed this very nicely, with the big trunk at left, I like the originality. One suggestion, would be to increase contrast in order to provide richer blacks, either in the tree trunks, or the sky, or both. |

Melanie, I have to admit I'm feeling like Gary on this one, and to me, it's the bits of brown shades, as in the front of the house, the wood, the little shed, that don't quite work. For me, I'd like to see a touch of subtle red on the walls of the house, and everything else black and white. But that's my preference stylistically, strictly FWIW. I like the idea, and used to play around with it a lot, but found its very tricky to get just right! |

Good for you, Gregory! I've shot this scene before and like most, have never had this kind of luck. My only suggestion for improvement, if you crop down just a bit, you can crop out that plain contrail, which to me, only serves to distract from the otherwise perfect scene. |

Great job, Dianne, how original, fresh and interesting. I might have gone for a blacker sky, just my preference. |

Great example of perseverance in getting that great light, it's all this beautiful and mysterious scene needed to come alive. |
