Your love of this scene comes through in the image, which, above all, has beautiful light. |

Nice job of evoking mood, Albert, which, because the image is not very descriptive otherwise, allows the viewer to interpret with his or her own place and time. It has nice graphic qualities, with the placement of the branches. The use of these large foreground branches this way is a little unusual, which adds to the interest of the image. |

I like the interplay between the little tuft and the grass on top, similar tonality, it works very well for me Jen. There are also some subtle tonalities of interest in the water. I'm a fan of minimalism, and enjoy this. |

Of course, not sure why I didn't pick up on that, but makes sense and I'm sure others will. |

It does have a comical feel, Don, and I like it's simplicity, the two birds and the perch, without a lot of distraction. I'm not sure about that twig he has, as I'm sure that that becomes the focal point of the image for most people, and as it's not connected to any tree, it becomes a bit puzzling, what's he doing with that branch, etc. Will be curious to see how others react, but even so, it's a nicely done nature image. |

I think you do a good job of rendering the shadows here, Adrian. Often they are left even darker, but here you can still see detail in the shadows. From your vantage point you create a feel of "endless dunes", something I often strive for myself. An old dune master once told me, the challenge of taking good dune shots in Death Valley, is to eliminate the mountains, which seem to be in every shot. You've illustrated how that works, here. And you get points for surviving Death Valley in June! Must have been hot. |

It's a nice portrait, Ed, has a nice old fashioned feel to it, and Tom feels like a subject I would like to know, as if there's a story there. Your caption helps me out with that. Lacking the caption, there's just a hint of the impishness you mention. I find with portraits, the more context included, the more we learn about the subject. This is a straight portrait of course, but still does a nice job. |

Certainly a walk in wonderland, John. Infrared images have that look, of course, and this takes it to another level. To me, the Topaz filter feels just a bit heavy handed, but that's me, and I have a feeling most will really like the effect here.
It's also a nice composition with the fork in the road, and the little tree that looks like a ghoulish man is a great bonus. |

The sand patterns make this a natural for black and white, Jerry, and I'd echo the comments by your colleague Don. If the sky doesn't contribute anything, no need to include it. Very nice. |

A lovely scene, made dynamic by the white horse, as Gary points out. I feel like I'm there. Nice tones throughout. Very nice, Emil. |

The little cloud makes this for me, Palli! And I also like the simplicity of the image; the shadow of the tree, the two distant trees, it comes together nicely. Here it seems I disagree with Melanie, but I like it either way. |

Seeing the original just makes this, Gary! Great job. I love the way Silver Fx can bring out detail in shadows. Here, you had the added challenge of having to tone down the background as well, and then the interface or border. It looks perfectly natural. His beard makes him a compelling subject, of course, and I can enjoy the shadows and texture on his shirt also; very nice! |

Charles, I can only echo the other great comments at this point. Great job on experimenting, with striking results. It's a compelling image, and as Melanie says, fascinating and a little scary! |

It's interesting seeing a nature shot in infrared, given that the former we're conditioned to see as real, documentary, and the latter tends toward creativity. Here, you've added a bit of mood, fancy, it what probably was poor light otherwise, to make for a very pleasing image that isn't over the top.
My initial reaction to the image was the tilt, and I just accepted it as the actual lay of the land as in my own image this month. Gary has a good point in that we can see the horizon, so I'm torn on this, I can't help but like Gary's more, but I want to accept yours ;) tough one, but very well done overall Melanie. |

Beautiful clouds, Helen!, with enough interest in the land to make it work overall. I prefer your version to the two edits your colleagues provided. Even though it is dark, maybe a little too dark, it feels natural and foreboding, as if it were near dusk. |

We often see IR photographers make snowy looking scenes, but this is the first time I've seen the cherry blossom effect, it's wonderful! |
