Thanks for the comments everyone. Just to clarify, the Original slot can be used for alternate versions as well, as I did in this case. |

Hi Albert,
This is certainly an impressive scene, my favorite part are the pine trees against the mountains. For this reason, I think I prefer the main image best. Otherwise, as a landscape, I think it lacks compelling leading lines, (the two streams are split and neither commands attention), as well as significant points of interest in the mountains. A slightly closer crop might bring more attention to the trees, and be of interest. |

I like Stephen's comment, especially since the people are in the all too common mode of staring at their cell phones. This makes for a nice image in black and white, especially the area in front of the people, with it's symmetric lines and shapes, and some nice light coming through. I would be tempted to crop in a little closer all around, but it's equally nice as is. |

This is great, Don, it's like multiple images in one, as there's so much to enjoy. The motion blur on the water is nice, but then I notice the pier, which makes the image, with its rickety feel and undulating lines. The three lamp posts are a nice touch (but you've got a fourth right at the let edge, I think, which might be best cropped out). And lastly, you've got a beautiful sky, with multiple cloud layers. It all comes together very nicely. |

Yes, I think it's much stronger as a black and white, Adrian, especially the way you've cropped in a bit closer, removing that distracting white area, it's all about the whiskers, and I think makes a great close up. It certainly makes for a unique take on the zebra. |

I like this scene, Ed, it has a great feel and sense of place. At this resolution it's hard to see the field in detail, and I'm curious as to how that holds up, in terms of detail and sharpness. I love the sky, but it feels a little muddy to me, as in I'd like to see a bit more contrast, or perhaps a bit darker, if that's possible without it overtaking the serenity of the scene. Finally, I would have cropped the left side right after the trees, as I don't like the way the edge cuts through that next building. Overall, however, I find this a very enjoyable image. |

The shape of the opening makes this, John, and the way she leans into it, her jacket, expression, it all comes together very nicely. I agree that black and white was a good choice. |

Thank you Stephen, I had considered that, given the image's right to left orientation. Although I have a bias towards the "as seen" version, upon considering yours, I'd have to say it really doesn't make any difference. |

I love symmetry in images, and hence the near symmetry of this I enjoy very much. I like the way the trees on the right are just a little bit different than the trees on the left. Lots of mood, peacefulness in this, very well conceived and executed Emil.
I'm not sure if you punched up the whites in the trees, but on the left, it feels a little uneven. |

This is eery, while one figures it out!
Very good job on your interpretation of this, Palli. I particularly like the way your treatment brings out the texture and the marks on the body. I agree with Melanie's comment about the trees. |

Very nice, Gary. I particularly like the feeling of the leaves on the pavement. Even though there's a lot of pavement, it still works. My only nitpick would be, the dark leaf tips in the center of the image, which I find distracting, in that the effect seems unnatural. But it's not a deal breaker, I agree with the others it's a wonderful take on an old image. |

I find this a very interesting and original composition, Charles, with the two prominent features. I'm not quite there on the processing, however, the pink not quite working for me. But I do kind of sense what you were after and see the potential of this scene. |

What a great find, Melanie! I was thinking along the lines of Gary, the light is a little flat. I was thinking perhaps a vignette - and his lighten center gives a similar effect. It also feels a little hot, overexposed, to me, and I think his version helps. I think I would have taken this as wide as possible for that big sky feeling, but this is still quite nice as is. I like the desert sage, too. |
