They look sharp to me, Jen! I think these birds work well in black and white, due to the contrasty tones, and patterns on the birds, helps them stand out against the simpler background. Ed makes good comments on the crop. |

This reminded me of some of my own images, and gave me a feeling of yearning to go back, Don. There are so many ways to approach sand dunes, and you've gone with the wide landscape here, which works because of those beautiful clouds, and the way the eye can ride the crest of the dunes back into the image. I usually try to avoid the mountains in my DV sand dunes, but I think here it was worth including them with that sky.
Very nice, and I'm glad you had a good trip and managed to avoid the footprints! |

He's got a great expression, he's doing something interesting, and you've isolated him well, so I think this works as street photography / environmental portraiture. The one fly in the ointment is that he's looking at someone else - reminds me of the problem I had with my image last month. I go back and forth on that issue, but think these can still work, but did you get any where he was engaged with you? The sign left of his head is unfortunate, but overall, I still enjoy the image Adrian. |

Very simple yet elegant, Ed. For me the point of interest is the revealing of the center part. It's more noticeable in the color version, which, for that reason, is somewhat more effective for me. You might be able to work on the tones so that it is of a different tone in the black and white and stands out more, for example, by darkening the petals above it just a bit. I also think this image might benefit from a subtle vignette, in addition to the frame. Overall, very nice. |

Context is key when shooting another's art, and you've executed this well, John.
I think the people along the beach upper left take me out of the scene, so I prefer a crop just down a bit, which then becomes all about the artwork, the ocean, and the woman and dogs. It works out well that the leading line leads right to them.
I like the feeling the sepia gives this. Very nice. |

Thank you both, I agree. I think your edits improve the image and move it towards what I was after. |

This is really very lovely, Emil. It evokes a peaceful dreamy sense of mood. What makes it come together for me, are the foreground reflections, and from your vantage point there is a sense of symmetry that works very well. I could also see this taken in a much more contrasty direction, similar to some of your past images, but once again I'd say it works fine as is as it preserves the serene mood. Very nice. |

This is a fun and enjoyable image for me Charles, very nicely conceived. I think you achieved what you were after, and then some. My only issue is that I'm wanting the arch just a little bit to the right, it's too centered for me, but I look forward to hearing what other think on that. Very nice. |

It's probably a good way to work on the technique, Melanie, for when you want to use it selectively in an image, but other than that I'd have to agree with your second sentence, it's so close to a natural color image, that one might just as well use a non converted camera. But you're getting good at the technique, and I'm sure you'll find creative uses for it... |
