Thanks for the good comments. I knew something wasn't quite right. I did have a slightly different perspective which maybe improves a bit. |

A nice slice of life Albert. The scribe in particular is compelling, and I think this would also have made a nice environmental portrait if you had chosen to zoom in on just him. |

Great job here, Jen. Scenes like this are so busy, and you've managed to avoid all the clutter and present a nice clean compelling composition. I love the way it's bordered at the top, with just a bit of the riders showing, and the way the vignette directs the light to your subject horse. If only we could have seen the faces of the riders. Very nice. |

Nice job, Don. Even though this was early morning, the contrast in your processing brings out the stark, unforgiving, desert landscape. Nice clouds, too. I look forward to seeing more from this visit to one of my favorite places. |

This is one of those images that, the more one looks at it, the more one discovers interesting elements, Adrian. The repeating arcs, then the beautiful shadows, and lastly the curved patters in the foreground, it all comes together for a very compelling image! The foliage distracts, for me, but that's a nitpick and was obviously unavoidable. |

I'm attracted to scenes like this myself, Ed, and you've got nice, gritty texture and detail here. I'm wondering, could you have taken a few steps to the left, and possibly seen some of the bend in the staircase to the right? I find that adds a dimension of interest to scenes like this. Also, I'm not sure about the black spot, will be interested to see what others think about that. But overall I definitely like and appreciate what you were after. |

Very impressive, John! In addition to what you pointed out, the clean dark background works very well. I think, as Stephen points out, 1/160 is a little slow for this setting. Maybe a slightly wider aperture and or higher iso could have gotten you up to 1/800 or so. It must have been a fun shoot! |

That makes sense Gary....btw I just noticed the deep blue still water at the base of the bridge; that definitely adds some reality to the water and is a nice touch. |

That boardwalk is a great find, Emil, and you've set up and composed it just right, it makes for a very compelling image. Good contrast too as Gary says. |

Very creative, Gary! I particularly like what you did with the foliage. I found myself clicking back several times to the original, a rather ordinary scene. It's moody and other-worldly.
I'll take the other side of the flood filter discussion, however ;) It's awfully fun to play around with, but I've found viewers start to recognize it as a filter, and it loses impact. In your image, I don't think it's necessary. I'm also not sure about the two little signs, I might have cloned them out. |

Quite a bold and dynamic image, Charles. The mist brings it alive, and it has great graphic qualities with the v shaped canyon, and framed by the bridge above. I'm surprised the foliage didn't turn as white as it usually does in IR, even in midday. I agree with the other comments about the foliage and perhaps over-sharpened look, otherwise it's quite sucessful. |

I also like the blue sky. That's something I can't do with my conversion, without taking a second image with a color camera and stacking them. Great job getting rid of the tourists, the resulting image definitely has an other-worldly medieval feel.
On the far right, however, I'm not a fan of the bit of green left in there, it becomes more of a distraction, and it seems there's a billboard there which needs to go ;)
I'm also wishing for a slightly different perspective, a little more on the left, less on the right, but you were probably limited as to vantage point. Very nice overall. |
