John, I had the conversion done at life pixel .
If you are interested in infrared, there are multiple groups. I'm a member of #66.

Thank you Adrian, I agree the light could use some tweaking to make it more subtle, perhaps the lower right corner darkened just a bit. The lack of texture in the leaves comes from the infrared... |

thank you John, I posted this here, as opposed to the infrared group I'm also a member of, because of just that, it doesn't scream infrared, or rely on being IR to work. IR does render the leaves white naturally, but these leaves, yellow in reality, could probably have been brightened in post processing, rendering a similar image from a conventional image. |

You get points for originality, Jen, I've seen a lot of old car shots, but never one quite like this. I'm not sure it gets there as an abstract though, as the headlamp immediately tells us its a car and sets up the image for us. In the background, I see what you mean, there is that nice curving line and nice textures and tonalities. |

Something a little different! Especially for this group. Very nicely done nature shot, sharp, with some nice graphic elements going on down below with the shadow, and the stem, and the curves. There's a little distraction at the top center, but overall, very well done! |

Don, if you ever convert another camera, you can get all of those steps you mention out of the way, with a built in filter, like the 830nm, which renders a higher contrast black and white image. But as to this image, yes, good job on the shadows, and it's a nice composition. By being the brightest objects, the eye goes right to the bushes in the foreground, and the tonalities tend to be of less contrast from there. I would have preferred the background trees to be just a bit whiter. |

I think it works very well, Adrian. The dust in particular, and his white tusks. I think for a nature image, the wider version shown in the original provides more context and nature story. But the closer crop is still very effective albeit with a bit more mystery. |

The low contrast does convey a quiet peacefulness Ed, but you might play around with tweaking it just a bit, there might be a happy medium in there somewhere which has a more compelling contrast like the color version, yet still maintains the mood. It's a lovely composition, and i enjoy the way the trail disappears, then comes back. The people contribute, and you have a nice sky also. |

Great action shot John, and I like the contrast you've achieved in black and white, especially the front right performer with her white shorts. Good sharpness, too! |

Yes, that's what I was after Gary.
I'll be curious to see what others think. |

Thanks Gary, I hadn't considered that, but I get your point. It might have worked better with the tree against a clear sky. |

Although I usually prefer looking up or down rivers, rather than across, this is still interesting due to the beautiful motion blur you've captured on the water, Emil. I also like the way the foreground rocks "point" into the scene; the effect becomes more noticeable on a tighter crop. |

Well seen and laid out image, Palli! I love the way the pipes wrap around the frame, and the flip was a great idea, works so much better. I like the toning also. |

Wow, this is certainly "dreamy" Gary! You've taken a beautiful scene, and improved upon it in post processing. I would take the crop in even a little more on the right - though that might result in the tree being too centered. Mostly, I can't help from looking at the two hay bales on the ends as perfect bookends. But I'm also have this odd preference for original crops when possible (3:2 for full frame digital), and this feel's unnecessarily "stretched". A minor issue, to be sure.
The sky cooperated with the dreamy feel, but to me the hay bales make this special. |

I'm sure we've all heard the "looks like snow" comment when others view our IR images of trees, and this one even more so, due to the blue sky; very nice. I didn't realize it was a cemetery until I read your text. But the river and the bridge still make for a very pleasing image. I think from your vantage point, a bit more "reach" (telephoto) might have made another image with the background cemetery more prominent, with foreground river and bridge. |

Nicely composed and laid out, Melanie. I too like the curve in the rocks, as well as the placement of the lighthouse, and the strip of clouds. The clouds are too bright for me, though. Looking at the original I can see that they weren't blown out (which is often the case) so you can dial it back a bit if you agree. Although it's perhaps in need of some contrast, I actually prefer the exposure in the original overall.
I've darkened the sky just a bit: |
