To the contrary, Jen, it almost has a minimalist feel to it. I find when taking nice cloudscapes like this, the challenge to be finding a ground subject which has some interest but doesn't compete with the sky, and this works very well. The bright whites of the goal posts really make this pop, and the image as a whole has a nice tonal range. Very nicely done. |

What a nice street scene, Albert. And those orange reflections in the original! I think the black and white rendition is a little dark, feels a little heavy. That may have been the mood you were after, with the rainy day, but I think it needs some whiter whites, at least in places. You have managed to render that blue tarp almost unnoticeable, which is good, and even the satellite disks are less noticeable in the black and white. And the sepia does give it an old feel, keeping with the mood of the scene. |

Simple elegance, Don! Very nicely done.
An image like this has to be sharp to be effective, and this one is perfect in that regard. The beautiful reflection of the mother duck makes this extra special for me. |

Very nicely done, Adrian. My first impression was, "this must have been so beautiful in color"... but you've made the black and white far more compelling than the original, by bringing out so much more detail. The cotton plants have the appearance of being wildflowers, the stream has some texture, and the mountains have beautiful tonalities. Believable punch is a good way to put it! |

It certainly is a sign of the times, Ed! And you've captured that well. I do think the processing is a little heavy handed for the journalism approach - you were probably trying to highlight your subject, and reduce distracting elements, but I find the vignette itself a little distracting. Still, it's a nice slice of life image. |

I think this is a great street scene John, as you've managed to bring some sense of order to a busy scene. The fishing poles and receding street lamps provide a graphical component, nice lines. We can see lots of faces; the two right in front having a talk provide for a moment in time and are unfazed by the camera. And the little boy riding towards us, looking into the camera. Too often street photography presents the backs of people's heads, because the photographer was uncomfortable -- this shows how successful and engaging an image can be when the photographer works it right - good job! |

Beautiful image, Emil! It's got so many of my favorite tools for adding depth to landscapes - fence, road and tree line. But I particularly like the soft way you've presented this. I have a feeling you may get some comments asking to up the contrast a bit. I have been tending towards higher contrast myself, but here, the softness doesn't feel flat, but rather, adds a certain mood to the scene, a wistfulness. This sky is one area that might benefit from either just a touch of contrast or a touch darker, but even as is I enjoy this very much. |

I like the way you've composed this, Palli; the foreground shadows, her position in the frame, and the barren tree on the left, it's so well balanced, very nice! |

It's quite a beautiful scene, Charles; an image I often find myself trying to take as well. I'm not picking up on the greens and pinks, but I do get the sepia, which adds a nice feel to it. I particularly like the dark branches, and the overall high contrast rendering of this. |

I think the cyanotype is fun, as we don't see it that often. I'll have to leave it to others for tips on how to make those beautiful color images. Compositionally, its the little line of white grass tips coming up from the bottom, and also the shadow of the tree, that makes this for me. I might have played around with a closer crop, to accentuate those areas more. The tree itself feels a little hot in this one, and I like the way it renders in the other versions better. |

Thanks Lamar. Did you use a physical (glass) neutral density filter? |

What a beautiful image, Lamar! I wanted to weigh in on the sky - I like your version better than Glen's edit, but I do agree the blue feels over saturated in that one spot. To me, it looks as if a neutral density filter was used, and the cutoff is too noticeable. That could probably be massaged a bit in post processing if you felt it was worth the effort. Wonderful image. |

What a find, Bunny! I'm fine with the little odds and ends in it, and think you've done a great job improving on the poor light, but would agree with Stephen that the end result colors don't feel particularly realistic and may or may not choose to work on that a little more. |

Remarkable image, Bill! The juxtaposition is superb as has been pointed out. She has the look I'm too often presented with when attempting street photography, which is why I've decided to stick to landscapes ;) |
