Yes I think once again, John's crop has shown us how "less is more" often works to improve an image. Now, the stones lead us into the image, to the back where we find the new building, and I think it very effectively tells the story you were after. I would be curious how you feel about the crops, and if you agree. |

I will take a slightly contrary view, in that for me this isn't the best match for black and white, although perhaps some work with the color channels conversion might help. Although you've added some contrast, it is still mostly grays, with little black or white. For example, taking a look at the original, we can see the torn tarp, which adds a dimension to this, but that disappears in the black and white, as the boat and tarp are nearly the same shade of gray.
All that said, I like what you are after in the image, the story and how it affected you the photographer. I think that like Sharon's comment on my image, that there might be some post processing effects that help bring out the story of the abandoned boat even more; that would require some playing around and experimentation. |

I agree with John's excellent suggestion. It is amazing how much getting closer improves this. It really becomes a sweet moment with the two girls, and the water splashing off her lips make it extra special. I also prefer the processing you did in the revised version; I'm not sure the white vignette worked. Back to your original intent, I'm not sure the helping gesture comes through as much in the revised version, but that needn't effect the image which works anyway, and is still there for those who explore and find it. |

Something different, for sure, John! The gradient makes it work, I think. |

Yes, thanks Sharon, I agree it needs that little bit of something more to add some mood, will work on it. |

I agree with Gary's comments Palli, but I did find it a joy to discover the teapots one by one. It's lots of fun, but it white background is just a bit overpowering of the subject. |

Excellent portrait Melanie. I agree with Gary's comment but have no other suggestions. It does have that porcelain, almost mannequin feel to it.
Did you take this from a distance with a long lens (surreptitiously), or did you know he subject and we're closer in, just curious, as I find street photography of people to be so difficult. |
