I find birds tricky too, Jen!
This reminds me a little of Don's, in the sense you've given t some nice contrast on your bird, in a very low contrast landscape. If the bird is sharp enough, I think you could crop in just a bit, yet still leave plenty of the landscape to show the context of his environment. |

Even with the crop, Don, I'm amazed you could have shot this at 100 mm - he must have been close to you!
Another excellent wildlife image from you. This also demonstrates how the eye goes to the area of greatest contrast in an image. You've left the background low contrast so it doesn't distract; very well done. |

I agree with you about the polish, Ed. It creates a great feel for this car. Very well done.
A couple of comments - though I like a close crop, I know there are those who would complain about the tangents you've created with the two larger lights rubbing up against the edges of the frame. The hood ornament also touches the top of the frame. Here may be possibilities slightly wider, or even cropping in to the lights. This also has a softer feel than your usual style; maybe just a touch more contrast would help, ie, pushing the dark areas between he grate, closer to black.
All that said, I do enjoy this image and it's symmetry, very much. |

A very appealing image, John, with a nice sense of place. It reminds me of some places here in Norh America. The little tree far left kind of balances with the road. You might try darkening the sky just a bit. |

Welcome Emil!
I agree with Melanie's first impression, that I prefer a composition closer in. The two perpendicular buildings work well together, make for a nice graphical image, that's enough for me, but I'm a fan of less is more. I don't think the left third has much to contribute to the image.
I notice there are many broken window panes, and even some with reflections, on the main building, just lovely.
I wouldn't go as far a Gary's edit (no surprise!) but I do think some edge burning at least along the top and left sides, or a vignette, would help this, as the sky is a bit hot.
Very interesting image Emil, thanks for sharing. |

I kind of like this, Palli. Theres a near symmetry to it which I find appealing, and the large mass of water works as empty space in a minimalistic image. |

Interesting and well thought out composition, Gary. Two boats (or two anything) can be a challenge of course, but I think you've pulled it off, in this beautifully laid out scene. The sky didn't contribute as much as it might have, and I can see you've cropped down, as I would too, perhaps even a little further. I agree with you all on the white specks, and, tempting as they are, I don't think digital frames have much to add to excellent images like this. |

I like the dark sky Melanie, and the way you've presented this it feels so gigantic, well done. Looking at the original, makes me want to warm this a tad, as in a little sepia, but that's a personal choice. |

So much to like here, I can only echo the others' comments. One thing that's special for me, is the way there is a different shape tree under each arc - so much better than if they were all the same. I concur with Gary's comments and edit about the brightening of the foliage. |

Thanks for the comments everyone. Looks like it's unanimous, the sky needs to be darkened, and I think Gary's edit is right on. I may have a version a few steps to the right, will check. Great comments from this group as always! |
