Thanks Albert, Less is More is my mantra so I like your idea of a crop... still, seems to lend itself to almost a pano or 16x9... the shadow of the bush cris-crossing the sand lines is kind of what I was after. Thanks for the comments. |

I feel a great sense of place in this image. If this were just about the sailboat, it could be "flat" compositionally, but here I find the house on the shoreline at left, and further down the coast, which make for a lovely scene. The leaden sky works well too. I agree with Ed about the hot spot. |

Flowers are so often overlooked for their black and white potential, so like Ed I appreciate this. The whites in particular are beautiful, seductive. |

Thanks for the flipped version, Ed. I have to admit, I'm torn, and can't decide which I prefer. Maybe I have the photographer's bias to the original. I look forward to hearing what others think. |

It certainly is a mesmerizing image, Ed, the way you've presented it! It's amazing how the eye is drawn unavoidably to the center. You've done a nice job of rendering different tonalites, in a scene which was probably quite low contrast to begin with. It's very nicely done. |

I agree with Ed's comments -- well presented, too bad about the cars. I like the angle from which you've captured it. |

Yes, I think Gary's version takes your image to another level Palli. It focuses the attention more on the curve of the trunk and the white foliage - very nice, I have no additional suggestions. |

I love scenes like this Gary, and I agree with the others, that you have done an outstanding job rendering it. The framing of the elements in the scene, including the clouds, is just perfect. There's so much white, and yet it doesn't feel "hot", like my digital IR images tend to. The grain takes some getting used to, but in the end it's wholly enjoyable. |

I too am still getting used to the idea of it being not only OK, but preferable to shoot mid-day for infrared. I think here, it's that some of the trees are in sun and others are in shade, that bothers me just a bit. Otherwise, your HDR work has done a great job of extracting detail in the buildings. It's a lovely scene, and perhaps you could share the name of the village if you recall, as I'll be visiting Italy this summer. |

I tend to agree with Melanie on this; I think the pink could work quite well, just needs to be desaturated a bit. I would play with different levels of saturation and see what you think. |

The Palouse is one of my favorite places to shoot, and this is lovely Ernie. I'm also a big fan of capturing sun flecks on days like this, and being ready and executing is not easy. As has been said, the result is a unique and artistic image. I like that the sky is understated -- too much contrast there can easily take away from the beautiful subject of the landscape. I do agree with the others, that the image might be stronger without the grass. |

Thanks Melanie, yes perhaps a little more contrast is in order. I struggled with that a bit; maybe the tree trunks could be darkened a bit and the tree leaves lightened. |
