More of a sky-scape to me, it has a beautiful sense of place of those windy hi/low latitude places. The clouds at top become the subject for me, and some of the flares around there become a bit of a distraction. Overall, I find this a great travel shot and would love to visit this area. |

Thanks Don I often have that reaction to images and it can be disconcerting so I appreciate your sharing that. |

I like your subject, Jen, and what really makes the composition special for me is the one petal which has fallen on the right side. Actually, I might have played with cropping off part of the left side, which would focus the eye more on that one leaf.
To Darrell's point, I'm not sure where you focused, but it looks like only the fallen leaf is sharp, and next time you might consider taking additional shots with the vase and the other flowers in focus, and blending them in Photoshop. I've found it hard to do in an outdoor setting, but indoors where everything is controlled is much easier. |

I love how clean it is with the black background, and like Darrell am curious as to if you used a card. This can sometimes be done solely in processing but it's a lot more work. It's well composed and technically excellent. |

Great contrast on this Darrell, with lots of true black and white tones, make for a very dramatic scene. I agree with Albert's comment about the light spot. The tower seems to be the focus of attention, the main subject, so I'm wondering if cropping a little off the left side would help focus attention and improve the image. |

Great job on the processing Ed. I think most people faced with the clutter of the original scene would not have attempted it, good for you.
I find it a little dark, and also noticed that it's a slightly different image, with the woman turned slightly toward us and raising the yarn in the original, which I prefer. |

It's a bold composition, with the forming an arrow leading us into the scene. I agree it's a nice image of Florence. My suggestion would be to crop out some of the sky -- as there are no clouds etc, it really doesn't add anything to the scene and cropping it out focuses our image more on the city. |

I agree with the others Gary in that it's a beautiful scene which is made by the old man walking. My taste run towards softer processing, and so I find I enjoy something closer to the original even more. I also like how in the original I can see more of the fence, which creates a nice line compositionally. My personal treatment of this would have been more along the lines of darkening the trunks only for contrast, and leaving the lighter tones of the leaves as is. I realize we have different approaches of course which is fine; I still enjoy this very much. |

This is a great subject for infrared, as the border trees come alive and lead us into the scene. I also like the shadows and leaves on the driveway. I like and enjoy the mood you've conveyed. I'm glad you cropped out unnecessary sky -- a frequently overlooked crop that always improves an image. |

Thanks so much, Gary. I will split the difference with you on the bottom; I agree it needs a little, but still like the feel of the barn engulfed in the reeds which the original conveys....
