Thanks for the input Barbara. The lighting was a challenge because while the color version looks good, the B&W conversion left some of the ladies (gal on the left) faces too bright. It was a balance of selective darkening and over all exposure/brightness to create a balance that would do what I wanted. Still a little more light seemed to improve the image (Douglas' version above).
Thank you again. |

I loved the show. The dancers were a great addition to the music. The harmony between the singers was wonderful, some of the best I have heard and would love to hear again. The dance added to the show. |

Hi Albert, to my eye an "in the moment" image. I too like Kirsti's version a little better. To me it is a thought provoking image. What is in her hand, what might be on her mind, where is she going?
As I see it the idea of making the wall appear more like a landscape actually played well with the image.
My only suggestion would be to try to lighten the deep black holes in the wall as they tend to take my eyes of the woman who is the main subject of the image. Perhaps simply crop them out? I thought to do some work in Photoshop on the image. Below are my efforts. Your thoughts?
All in all a really nice image Al, thank you for sharing with us. |

Hi Kirsti. After looking at the two I think I prefer the original.
I admit that the grainy look adds an aura of mystery to the image, and as a study in light and dark it works well to my eyes. However, I do not see "eels" in the mono version while I do very clearly in the color version
Still I admire the creativity of your work, always have. And it does present an interesting appearance. Thank you for sharing it with us. |

Thank you Douglas. I agree with your lightening it a bit. I struggled a bit with the lighting - lost sight of the forest for the trees. Here is the original so you will get an idea of my starting image.

Thank you Kirsti. The joy is really evident. We enjoyed the trip, sadly would not make it now, but thoroughly enjoyed the Russian people. When we were out around midnight in Moscow never felt any sense of dis-ease or worry. |

Thank you for the comments Robert. 1/125sec @ f8, burst (oh dear I blew my cover) mode with a Nikon D500, Tamron 10-400 lens. |

Hi Robert, I really like the image. The people spending a quiet moment in front of the geometric pattern while seated on the wall. A nice image of tranquility in a world that seems to be spiralling out of control.
It tells me a story of quiet peace. Thank you very much for sharing it with us. |

Hi Douglas. I agree about this being a dynamic portrait. I see in his expression both a sense of happiness and also challange, sort of like "can you do this?". I also like the clarity of the image especially his eyes.
The issue of losing part of his hair and the light panel top right: Of the two the light panel, as Kirsti said clone it out. The hair is a challange. I use PS 2025 and thought to play with it some to see what you think. |
