Thank you for your thoughts and your version of the image. The vignette was put on the image in Silver efex Pro. I never thought to consider simply burning the edges of the image. I like your version and appreciate your efforts and your approach to the image.
Thank you again for you review and suggestion and the image you included. |

Good evening Trung. I love this image. Your processing has made the bird (swan?) luminous. The darkened back ground and fore ground add to that effect.
I really like the contrast you used which shows the detail in the feathers and contours of the bird's wing, also in the bird's neck and head - not a good day for the fish.
A wonderful image well processed. Thank you for sharing with us Trung. |

Good evening Albert.
I like this image, perhaps because I always loved the ocean and really enjoyed being at sea when I was in the Navy.
I do like the low key look of the image giving the boats a silhouette appearance. The wake at the bottom of the image helps frame the boats working to do so with the clouds at the top of the image.
On the other hand, while I really find the clouds at the top of the image interesting - too interesting. They split my attention from them to that boats and back. Studying the image so that the top clouds are not seen leaves me divided in my thoughts about cropping them out of the image or leaving them in as you did.
It is, to my eye, a wonderful image either way. Well done Albert - thank your for sharing it with us. |

Hi Kristi, this was one of the few images over the years that I really studied - simply got lost in thought as I looked intently at the image. I do believe that adding to the right edge of the image helped greatly - very good move on your part.
While the overall images is (to my eye) somewhat flat - I found the child to be luminous and really a stand out in the image, that is what actually makes the image to my way of thinking.
I have no suggestions for improvement and have found it to be a wonderful and thought provoking image - very nice work, thank you for sharing it with us. |

Thank you for your review Al. You have made a good point. How much sky to include in images like this has always been a challenge for me.
In this case I chose to go for a minimum amount of sky when I took the image as you can see from the original. That is because the way the building roof line divides the sky actually helps my eye to focus on the buliding rather than the dramatic sky. |

Thank you Jeff. I will give that some thought. I had not considered a vignette (tunnel vision).Working from your thoughts I came up with this version. Your comments on my interpretation will be welcome. |

Hi Jeff, this was very interesting and informative to me. The original was essentially busy with no focus point, only a stand of trees. Your monochrome image takes the original to a new level. I really like the crop you chose and the high key approach. I feel drawn into the image unlike the original.
I have seen countless scenes like that where I live and never saw that possibility. Thank you for opening my eyes to new possibilities.
I see an image that would be wonderful hanging in almost any room without regard to the overall decorating scheme.
Thank you very much for sharing it with us. |
