I really like what you did with the portrait of the lady. The face art, the battle axe, the vambrace on her right arm, and cloak all fit the scene of viking warrior princess. Great story there and a nice portrait.
What does not seem to fit the scene is her expression. More like bleak saddness as if she has returned to her village only to find it burned - the moment of sadness before it is replaced by anger or rage. My eye and imagination would have liked a more severe intense expression (i.e., compressed lips and narrowed eyes) to fit the concept of the scene.
None the less a really nice image Trung. Thank you for sharing it with us. |

I really like how you framed the image Albert. It is a great (to my eye) landscape and the mountains in the distance along with the sky make for a dramatic scene. A good catch. Someday I would like to get to Iceland but haven't been able to talk my wife into a trip there.
The only negative to my eye is that the mountain in the foreground (left side) has a shade of black that is rather flat. It isn't bad, but my eye would like to see more depth (life?) to that portion of the image.
A really scenic landscape - thanks very much for sharing it with us. |

Hi Kristi,
A very interesting study in shapes. I do like the Stairway to heaven concept, but it is the geometric shapes that catch my eye. As I look at both versions I confess this is one of those times I do like the color version a little better - both are very good, but…
The steps along the side tell me of the danger of alternate paths up as they do not appear to reach the window - dead ends. At least that is the story that comes to mind as I look at the image.
I very interesting image and treatment of the subject. Thanks very much for sharing it with us.

Great catch Jeff. What I like most about this image is the stark simplicity of the scene. The tree stands like a lonely sentinel in the field.
This is one of those images I would love to hang on a wall.
I cannot come up with any suggestions to improve it. Thanks very much for sharing it with us. |

Good evening Robert,
Very interesting image good eye for a good catch.
I particularly like the geometric effect of the fence as it get further from the lens.
I think Jeff has a good point, but to my eye the image can also stand on its own as is.
Thanks for sharing it. |

Thanks Robert. The positioning of the woman was certainly convenient but it was not planned. I was too focused on getting the old woman begging. I did seriously consider B&W, but felt the blue tint added to the story line by giving a sense of coldness - it was an impact choice. In a competition I would likely go to B&W because I have heard too many judges who would have taken points away because of the tint (LOL). |

Thank you for the suggestions Jeff. I chose to leave that as it was though I did work on the poster to bring its brightness down, because that added to the story for me - the world is not interested in the poor beggars. Life simply goes on around them without stopping. That is certainly not 100% true, many do reach out to help. But in this case not so much. |
