You are most welcome. I generally do not read the other reviews before I compose mine so I did not know someone else had suggested the Film Noir thought - doesn't change a thing for me. Well done sir! |

Hi Trung,
A really great capture frozen in time. This speaks to me because I really do love the surf (never really learned to use a surf board) and love to Boggey board. I feel slightly jealous and envious because I seldom get rides like this.
I haven't the foggiest idea of what I might want to suggest to improve the image. To my eye right on! |

Good evening Albert,
I don't know if you placed the objects in the sand or simply happened on them (I suspect the later), but in either event it worked for me, especially in Black and White.
I see this as a very interesting study in textures and shapes, and yes I can see the Picasoesque face in the objects.
As I see it a very interesting and a really creative vision. Thanks for sharing it with us Al. |

Hi Kristi,
I like the image. Of all things it reminded me of when I was in the Army and was looking at the First Sergeant standing in front of the formation (LOL). I really liked the image - the contrast between the one lone tree in the foreground and the line in the background.
As to your issue with the halos. They can be annoying, but in my experience they can also be beneficial highlighting the focal point of the image - the tree in the foreground. I try to stay aways from "hard and fast rules" (like the rule of thirds) which should "never" be broken.
I took the original into Photoshop and Silver Efex Pro and made some adjustments just to see what you might think. I also did not want to lose the interest of the clouds.
One last thing I have learned, because we read left to right the eye tends to enter the image from the left and move right. By flipping the image horizontally my eye enters and flows through the image settling on the tree in the right which, at least for me, works a little better than the original. |

HI Jeff. I love this shot - a great (to my mind) story telling shot. Kind of Film Noir of the stranger lurking in the shadows smoking. The original was okay - just - to my eye. Your conversion to monochrome made the image for me.
I have no recommendations - as, at least to my eye, you have done really well especially keeping the highlights in his eye, the pattern in his gloves and the texture of his beard, and eliminating details that take my attention from the man's face.
A really powerful portrait from my point of view - thanks very much for sharing it with us.

Good evening Robert,
I really like the composition you chose for this image. The way you framed the waterfall. My only suggestion falls in line with both Kristi and Jeff - the tilted horizon does not enhance it. Beyond that - a really great shot from above.
I tried to blur the water slightly and also noticed that the horizon was not quite a tilted as I thought. I would be interested in your thoughts.
Thank you very much for sharing it with us. |

Good afternoon Jeff. You make a good point about the sky and I might just revisit the original with that in mind. In this case I chose the dynamic sky for a sense of total impact. In my judgment the tree was strong enough to hold its own.
Thanks again for the input and suggestion. |

Hi Robert, thank you for the input. Loved the vulture idea - didn't have one as a traveling companion at the time (LOL). This was taken on a road through the Grand Tetons on my way to Yellowstone. Where exactly I can't remember. |

Thank you Kristi. I do agree the B&W is better than the original. One of the few shots I took at the time where I actually considered it for B&W when I took it. |
