Hi Jeff. I appreciate the idea of removing that sign and had considered doing so. I chose not to do so because it is an identifier for the scene - location - so I chose to leave it there as part of the story.
Thanks again for your thoughts on the image. |

Thanks Kristi. Being a veteran (not of our Civil War - LOL) visiting the site left an impression on me. It was that, that I was trying to convey and I am pleased the message came through to some. Everyone will see it a little differently and that is the beauty of photography - build your own story around an image. Thank you again. I would really like to visit Iceland some day and will work on making that happen. |

Thank you for the comments Dom.
The issue I had was when I tried to increase the contrast with the image's current tonality things became noisy. I could have removed the noise but would have lost even more detail. The original image actually allowed one to read the commemorative plaques unlike this version. Having said that I may revisit the image in the original and try to redo it in the future. |

Hi Albert. First I like the image - especially for the sky.
I will admit it was hard for me to see the glacier without your description of the image. I also found the lack of detail in the land surrounding the glacier leaving me wondering about the image since a central focus does not come to my eye.
I copied the image into PS and did some work in the Camera Raw Filter to open up the shadows, reduce (some) the highlights, and lighten the black areas of the image. I also did a little work with spot healing to get rid of some of the black specs in the sky - not sure what they were. I would be interested in your thoughts.
A Good landscape image - thank you for sharing it with us. |

A great action shot Trung. I have always loved the sea even though its violence sometimes can leave me feeling very small and helpless. You have captured a picture of the violence quite well. It first I was taken aback some by the darkness of the image, but as I continued to look at it - to my eye it is perfectly appropriate to the subject. I really can not come up with any suggestions.
A very nice image and potential story. Thank you for sharing it with us. |

To me, this is a good PJ shot - the men filming the children walking on the sea side and catching their conversation in the process. This is one of the few times I would prefer the color versions though I see both as good material for creating a story of life on a small island.
My suggestion would be to 1) Crop some off of the right side to center the action more and 2) For the future, if possible, try to get a slightly different angle on so the pole with the microphone does not appear to go through the head of the camera man.
Having said all of the - good catch. Thanks very much for sharing with us. |

That, Dom, is one of the most amazing images if the sky and clouds I have ever seen. Great catch, great processing to bring out the tonal variations in the cloud formations, the contrast - everything about it. I especially like the bird in the upper right hand side of the image - gives me a sense of nature.
I have no suggestions.
Thank you for sharing it with us. I need to look up more often. |
