Good evening Gagandeep.
This is, to my eye, a wonderful portrait shot. I have read all of the comments and all have merit. There is not much I can add to what has already been said. I do like Jeff's crop, but with you I like the hands as well.
I do like Kristi's version with the somewhat darker reflection the best, but would not be afraid to hang any of the versions in my home or in a display collection.
Very nicely done Gagandeep - thank you for sharing it with us. |

Hi Jeff,
Great catch on this. I love the story of desolation with what appears to be an abandoned car in front of an abandoned barn(?) - two items time and people left behind.
With Kristi I think a crop that would remove the grass up to the horizontal line and bring the right side in would help. That would leave the ed light pattern but would also bring, I believe both the building and the car more to the center of attention.
Still, as it is, to my eye a wonderful image and catch. Thanks for sharing it with us. |

Good evening Robert,
I have read all of the commented above and looked at the variations on your original. Of all of the two I like yours and Krisi's the best. I believe the darker sky helps bring out the buildings more. I do not see the brickwork on the left side as an issue and echoing Kristi it gives me a sense of place and context.
To my eye your second version without the sky made the walls seem too much. The image is a great concept and I think your third version (along with Krisit's) bring out both the detail and the story better.
Thank you for sharing it with us. |

One of the things I really like about photography is that there are so many variations on a theme. I like what you did with the softer branches and sky. Thank you for your work and input Kristi. |

Thanks Robert I do agree with you about the improvement. We'll have to get together and do some work out there some time as I live in Northern Delaware. |

Thinking more about your thoughts and suggestions (along with those of Gagandeep) I went back to the library and selected another version of the same image - making the appropriate adjustment in Photoshop. Very much interested in your thoughts about the changes. |

I have really liked placing white flowers against a black background as you have done here. I believe it is a technique that works well and has a great deal of artistic quality.
As I see it your processing to obtain the desired appearance was very effective. Where I have questions is the background on the left side. I am torn because it does give a sense of the context (a partial frame) in which you found the rose and that is good, but it also distracts from giving my attention to the opening rose - especially the highlights as the lower left portion. I do not think I would take them out (context) but I would darken them so they did drag my eye off of the subject of the image.
A very nice picture Albert. Thank you for sharing it with us |

I can see why this picture was selected to be exhibited. The scene, especially the lighting of the scene is, to my eye, wonderful. The glow of peace that surrounds the family in the scene speaks to me of a quiet serenity about them - all is well in their lives, at least for this moment in time.
I believe your processing from color to black and white was very well accomplished and the image was greatly enhanced by your efforts - both are very nice, but the glow evidenced in the monochrome version is a great plus for the image.
Thank you very much for sharing it with us Kristi. |
