I think you had a great idea and a great subject - one I would not have thought of doing - my thinking is too narrow sometimes.
I really like the sky and the tonality of the image. I also like the clear, crisp detail in the houses - the brickwork, roofs, plants and graffiti.
I do wish that you had a slightly different angle on the image so that the houses on the other side of the leg on the right did not show and also that the frame for the houses in front of the viewer did not get interrupted at the top left corner.
Thank you very much for sharing it with us Jen.

I like this portrait shot Albert. Your selection of the selenium tone worked well as I looked at the shot. I also love that you used film then brought it into digital. I have an old Nikon FM-2N that I like to drag out from time to time. This image makes me regret not traveling with it more.
I especially enjoy the expressions on the faces of the two people in the image - one of happiness and joy.
I loved the softer tones of the image - to my eye your processing and framing of the subjects was wonderful.

I had a chance to photograph the Portland Head light a few years ago. We were not as fortunate with the weather as you were. I love the sky and the sail boat in this composition.
I normally place a frame in my images - I am not always sure that it improves the image. In this case the frame you used works very well in the presentation of the scene. I can not even find any nits to pick.
To my eye this is a wonderful wall hanger of an image. Thank you very much for sharing it with us Don. |

I do not normally read the other comments before I type out my own. In this case I did and with all that the others have said, I could only repeat their compliments.
To me the whole scene is made by the backlit tail and the detail of the fur, yet maintaining the detail in the front of the squirrel. I do actually like the original as well. Both images worked very well for me.
A wonderful image Adrian - thank you so much for your sharing it with us. |

A couple of good nits to pick Jack. I had missed them since I was so focused on getting rid of the reflection lines in the glass through which I had to shoot the image. A slightly, very slight, different crop would have resolved the issues.
Thank you for your comments. |

I think this is a wonderful portrait of a Blue Heron. To my eye the detail in the feathers and in the birds eye is exquisite.
I did not find the white background to be troubling, possibly because was that with which you had to work when shooting this image. It simply presented an image with a high key approach as I saw it.
To my eye you did a great processing job. I put your image and Don's mod next to each other on my screen - I found I like yours a little better. To my eye the slightly softer presentation in yours worked better since feathers for all of their texture tend to be soft when you feel them.
Thanks very much for sharing this image with us John. |

This is an interesting mix of patterns and textures. At issue for my eyes is the large, almost featureless white wedge that goes right into the middle of the image. That portion is so bright that it demands my attention, yet as I look at it there is little that actually holds my attention.
To my eye I would have liked to see that portion toned down in order for the texture of that section to be more pronounced.
