To my eye a very good catch Jenn. I probably would have walked right by this and missed it completely. Sharon's crop took out the one thing that I was thinking - the plants at the bottom of the image were a distraction to me, not bad at all but there. I can also see Don's point about darkening the rocks a bit to bring the cactus out more - the tonality is very close.
I tried implementing both - I would be interested in your thoughts on the changes. It is similar to, but subtly different (I hope) from Sharon's
Having said all of that, to me the image stands quite well as taken. Thank you for sharing it with us. |

Hi Albert,
Not much I can add to what has already been said. A very nice image whose restful appearance probably belies the noise of the rookery. To my eye the clouds add to the image.

Who says winter cannot be beautiful. The two winter scenes this month say otherwise. To my eye the stark simplicity of this scene creates a wonderful image.
My one suggestion would be (depending on the Software you use for processing images) to reduce the highlights and the whites in order to give a little more definition to the ground - along with perhaps a touch more contrast. I tried that out, see what you think.

To me, this is a great landscape. To my eye the sky actually sets the landscape off wonderfully. It gives me a real sense of the overall context. I agree with Jack, were it my image I would not replace the sky. In fact were it my image with a bald sky I would replace with one more like yours.
My only comment is that the town is hard to see. That however is not a problem to me as it gives me a reason to study the image.
I love it, thanks so much for sharing it with us. |

John - all the best to you. I agree with Jack, I hope you will return soon as you have shared a number of wonderful images with us.
To my eye this is a great image. The trees and thee back drop of the house as seen through the snow and the trees makes a great image as I see it. I have no suggestions (even nitpicking) to make for improvement.
Thanks for sharing it with us. |

Jack - I really like this image. The funny thing is I cannot really tell you why. Perhaps it is the sky or the backdrop of the hills - or everything. I simply really like it and to my eye your treatment of the image is wonderful.

Hi Sharon,
I tried several iterations for cropping the image to remove the beanie, and or the zipper. To my eye they are too much a part of the over all image. In fact I like the way both of them frame the face.
The version I attached is the only I thought might work. To be honest, I think I like the first version better, but … |
