As I see it, a good catch Jen. The detail in the car's paint job is wonderful and the sage brush in the foreground gives a nice sense of place to the image.
With respect to your question, I like the background hills as they give me a greater sense of where the car was found. What I did find distracting were the building, the transformer, and the wire frame image of the flying horse. They all compete with the car for my attention. As a travel photo they would have had to stay, but in creative I would have removed them in order to simplify the background some, yet still leave the sense of place around the car. I also like, very much, the story telling image in the vehicle's paint job.
Thank you very much for sharing it with us.

I love this image Don. The high key effect with the swans is, to my eye, perfect. The detail of the swans is wonderful almost as though they have been embossed into the image. In addition the image tells me a story of the one protecting the other, perhaps shielding the setting swan from the wind.
My only suggestion, and I admit that it is truly nit-picking is the perhaps a little more space on the left side showing more of the setting swan. But, even as a write this it seems trivial.
As I see it, a wonderful image. Thank you very much for sharing with us. |

I like the concept and to my eye you have processed it well. The black vignette works well, though I cannot help but wonder what a white vignette might have done for the image. Don has a point about the left side, perhaps a little more cropped from that side, but I am not sure.
I find a great deal of humor in this image. I get the humor in that it seems all of the starlings are looking away from the seagull as if to say "Who left you in charge? We are out of here!" the opposite of what you imagined. That in itself makes the image very interesting to me as I love images with a story.
As I see it, a great catch, thank you for sharing it with us. |

to my eye your work has given a sense of depth. I like the fog appearance in the back ground. To my way of thinking your work with PS is very creative, I had not thought of using it to create double exposures. Thank you for the idea.
I do also agree with Don. As I look at the image my eye has nowhere to settle. It is a very busy image and to some extent is unsettling to me.
Still I think it was a great effort on your part and it also proves the age of film is not over yet. It encourages me to get out with my Nikon FM2N and do some more work.

It is a very nice image Jack, technically very well done as a study in light and texture. I can see Don's point and to an extent I agree. However to my eye they create a good balance as composed I cannot really make any suggestions for improvement from my own view point.
What I will say is that it really does not tell me a story. But that is where my interest lies these days - story telling through my work.
