I have to agree with Albert, both about the flowers and the vase. I have cut crystal at home and see it razor sharp all of the time. In this instance I like the softness of the vase, it is almost ephemeral in appearance. It is a really nice contrast to the sharp flowers. I agree as well about the fallen petal - it really makes the image as I see it.
I would have liked to have seen it a little brighter, but this is strictly a personal point of view.
Great image, thank you for sharing it with us Jen. |

I like this as a sky scape as well. I cannot add anything to what has been said already.
A great job in post processing and a wonderful image. Thank you for sharing it with us. |

Don I have done work like this - white flowers on a black background. It is a look I really like, so I was immediately taken by the shot.
To my eye you did a really wonderful job in the processing. The stark white on black really works for me. The focus, to my eye, is amazing.
Wonderful image, thank you so much for sharing it with us. |

Darrell - there is nothing I can add to what has already been said. I love it, very well executed. It actually looks like it might be haunted.

To my eye this image has the same technical quality as Jack's image of the dunes with respect to tonality, exposure, contrast, focus, DOF, etc. I find them all to be excellent. I especially like the reflection in the mirror like surface of the river.
My issue is the triangular portion in the bottom half of the image. It is so different in nature from the scene over it, it competes for my attention leaving me lost between the two. I actually covered that portion on my screen and found I liked the image much better as a panorama of the bridge, that city and the river.
Thank you for sharing it us. That scene caught my eye as well when we were in Florence in '05. I liked it then and like as much now. |

Well executed Jack. To my eye the contrast and tonality are wonderful, as are the focus, exposure and depth of field.
I have to agree with the other comments - the dune in the foreground is a strong image, and were that cropped out the image from the top of that dune to include the sky makes an equally strong image, like two panoramas sitting on top of each other.
The two together appear to me to compete for my attention leaving me with an unsettled feeling.
Thank you for sharing it with us. |

Thank you for the suggestion about cloning the clutter out of the image. Actually I had thought about cloning the clutter out of the image (right side) but it seemed to be more work than it was worth, especially in trying to do a clean job of the cloning to make the image look more realistic.
By darkening the edges I was able to eliminate the clutter while keeping the realistic (at least to me) feeling. |

You are likely correct about the original. I may have goofed on the original from which the image was taken. None the less apart from her expression the work was needed to clean up the image. Thank you for your comment. |
