To me, this image is a great study in the patterns and textures found in nature.
At I first I thought "good image, but no central point of interest". As I looked at it longer I realized that the central point of interest is the intermingling of the patterns of the branches and the textures of the needles on the branches. The more I studied the image, the more I liked it.
I like the darker tones with the, resulting contrast. I also like detail of the needles on the branches.
Thank you for sharing it us Jen. |

I like this image Albert. I like the geometric shape of the suspension for the bridge. I especially like the dramatic sky behind the bridge. I also like the composition with the bridge itself in the very lower section of the image. This allows me to focus on the intricacy of the suspension wires as they form patterns when the sets cross each other.
As I look at it I also like the dark tones of the image that allow (to my eye) a very good contrast of bridge suspension to sky.
Thank you for sharing it with us Albert |

I like this image. It tells a story to me - a story of both sadness and hope.
Sadness because I wonder what the Furnace was like in its heyday employing people and making the materials that helped our country to grow.
Hope because I also remember seeing images of Pittsburg when, on a clear day, you could see only about a quarter mile because of all of the smoke and smog in the air. That is the hope because while the plants are closed and those jobs are gone - changed to different jobs - the air and rivers are far cleaner and the environment safer. It illustrates, at least to me, a cycle of death and birth.
To my eye this is a well composed image, and is technically wonderful.
Thank you, Don, for a very thought provoking and solid image. |

Hi Darrell - I love this image. The texture of the dunes with a dramatic sky is wonderful to my eye. I like every thing about the image and cannot come up with even any nit picking suggestions. I would gladly hang it on a wall in my home or office.
Thank you very much for sharing it with us. |

Overall I really like this image - it makes me think of Venice Itally - was it?
The composition with the cafe in the foreground and the bridge allows me to create a story about what is over the bridge. I like the context and the sense of light and dark with the texture of the buildings in the background.
What I find unsettling about the image is the person in the lower left who is almost indistinguishable from the shadows except for the shiny spot on his head. I had to look at the image for a while to determine what I was seeing, primarily because the person is dark skinned with a dark shirt, and the shadows are dark themselves. Perhaps more fill light would have helped more.
All told as nice image thank you for sharing it with us John. |

I like the lines and the sense of texture. I also like the back lighting for the cross, and especially the shadows from the sunlight.
As to your thoughts about the upper right, to me the buildings give me a sense of the context in which the cross occurs. As such I am not bothered by them. As for the lean of the cross, I see it, but then I also see an opposite lean in the vertical lines on the building on the left, so for my part it is not an issue.
What I might suggest is a closer crop on the bottom so the cross drops closer to the bottom of the image. While I like the texture of the pavement, I think the image might benefit from a little less than Is there now.
A really nice image, thank you for sharing it with us. |
