I liked this image the first time I saw it. I like the story line of the field of stone with only a small plant growing in a difficult place and alone.
I also like the detail in both the plant and the stone - the texture if you will.
My only suggestion, and I accept that it is kind of nit-picking, would be to move the plant up some in the image so it is more prominent.
To my mind a great minimalistic image, thank you for sharing it with us.

WOW !!!
I hope some day to be able to go to Cambodia - my Daughter in Law was born there - her parents walked out of the Killing Fields when she was 5 and her sister was 1 1/2 years old. Her parents have since moved back so I would have a place to stay.
I have always loved the images of the Khmer Temples in the jungle, but in my opinion this is the best I have seen and I think is a perfect compliment to Halloween.
I also agree that the person gives a perfect economy of scale to the image.
Wonderful shot, thank you for sharing it with us. |

Great image Darrell. 19 deg. F or C? I do hope you had a warm drink waiting for her if it was 19 Deg. F :-)
I love the story of the image plus to my eye the technical quality of the image is spot on.
Personally I did not find the sky to be distraction, there was nothing in it to grab my attention and it is so close in tone that I find it to be a non-issue to my mind.
As I said a wonderful story image, thank you for sharing it with us. |

First I apologize for being late to the comments. There is not much I can add to what has already been said. I do not mind the high key nature of the image, nor the essentially bald sky. In fact I find the image to be refreshing in its lightness. I also have to agree with Albert. I find the partial building on the left to be a distraction from the central point of the image.
Thank you for sharing it with us, I think I have seen that building in Florence. Is that where you took the image? |

To my eye the technical quality of this image is wonderful.
By and large I agree with the other comments. However, my issue, and it is strictly a personal one, is that all of the action is essentially in the top 40% of the image. It leaves me with an unbalanced feeling.
To my eye there is not enough separation in nature (water vs. land) between the two sections, so my eye is trapped in the top portion of the image, hence the unbalanced feeling.
