I should have proof read my "How I Did It" closer. I resized it in PS CC, not rested (heavy sigh). |

I like the concept Jen. However, the image leaves me with a vague sense of disquiet and I cannot say why. Perhaps it is the partial door on the right with the line of mail boxes that lead out of the frame. Or maybe the geometric black lines that cross the Image from tope to almost the bottom and side to side.
As I study the image the man is small enough that I seem to lose him in the overall composition. He makes the image but is so small with respect to the rest of the image, or perhaps it is the prominent light pole that is so pronounced.
I copied the image into PS CC and did a crop. I do not know if it made the image better or not - your thoughts?
I will be interested to see what others have to say.

In my opinion this is an amazing scene. The snow (looks like mist) gives me a sense of distance and the gentle land scape gives me a real sense of peace in this scene, I feel as though I would love to put this above my desk and when I feel stressed or hassled I could look up at this image and get lost in it losing all sense of stress and finding a real sense of quiet peace.
I cannot make even any nitpicking suggestions to improve the image, at least from my point of view.

I love leading lines and this image is full of them. The tracks lead my eye right to the trains and the station. I also like the contrast of the sky, and of the scene itself. As I see the image I have no suggestions to improve the technical quality, it is wonderful.
The only suggestion I would make, and it is simply my opinion, is perhaps cropping part of the bottom of the image. I feel that would still keep the leading lines but would also bring the trains and the station into greater prominence.

John, this is great. It is the best treatment of the tower that I have seen. All other images emphasize the leaning aspect of the tower. This brings out the artistry of the design. I love it. That and the sky behind it make this, to my eye, a wonderful image with a great study in texture and geometric shapes.
I cannot even come up with nitpicking suggestions for improvement.

I like this image a lot Jack. I especially like the tonality contained in the image. What particularly catches my eye is the way the mud wash draws my eye toward the gap in the mountains. Pulling the character of the sky out to give it detail in the clouds also was, to me, very effective.
From my point of view that character of the sky along with the mud wash, working with the tonality are what make the image work. Thank you for sharing it with us. |
