Now that you mention it, I agree with the presence of the yellow hue. |

Was this HDR bracketing ?? That could cause the halos. |

Ian, you are right. Now on a second look his right chick is Colombia and the left is Costa Rica. My bad..... |

Ian, Valentino must be a Caribbean guy (however the name is Italian) for sure given by the flags painted on his chicks. The right one must be Venezuela, since all three colors are the same size, now on his left chick I believe it is a hybrid between Cuba and Puerto Rico (maybe he is not sure....). The glasses are very dramatic, and his body language is good,. Image is sharp, and nicely composed with a non distracting background. |

Guy, the bridge as a leading line takes our eyes towards infinite where the bridge seems to go underwater. The presence of the boat gives some degree of scale as well. Nice dense clouds. |

Gary, good earth tones colors, sharp, nice composition with the road ending in the right (my right) lower corner, nice sky, and a touch of modernism given by the motorized vehicle. |

Erik, I must agree with Vella's comment. The illumination is so good that it looks like it was staged, which is OK. The halos are very obvious. |

Bill, Butler it is indeed. The effect looks like the old photographic glass plates, or perhaps Daguerreotype Photography. Interesting composition. Perhaps the lower grey segment is slightly distracting and could benefit from some cropping. Obviously you were enjoying your Palouse photo tour. |

Vella, great capture of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird in active work sucking the nectar from the Scarlet Sage. The wings are almost frozen (1/2000 sec) denoting movement which is good. To complete freeze the wings you need faster shutter speed. Good resolution in spite of the magnum crop. |

Vivek, this is a bird we do not have in the Americas. I did see another variety in Tanzania. I like the position of the bird on the tree stump. It is sharp. |

Sarita, I agree with Doug. Interesting position of the wings forward while the bird is standing on the flower and not hovering. I consider the fact that you can see the flower through the wing as an added bonus. |

Dough, great capture of a BIF. It is very sharp, and with no distractions in the background. The colors are very vivid. Interesting that the wings are sharp tip to tip with an f/4. Just to be picky, I would give a hair extra of real state in the front for the bird to fly into. |

Grace, nice nature image. The colors are really washed out. I do not alter my nature images replacing the sky either, but the image rendered by Doug looks more appealing. |

Dough, I have both of my knees replaced.... also you can see a view of Mt Hood this past September in Group 4 (https://psadigital.org/group04/image.php?iid=111141). You have the full image of the Quetzal just taking off. For us, and all the time we were there, the birds never took off. I am attaching the full frame of the portrait, and yes it is quite a crop in spite that I used the 800 mm, and another image showing the full plumage, but just siting on the tree. |

Gerhard, you are here presenting two new terms to my nature lexicon: The Goliath Heron which to me looks very similar to the Reddish Egret we have here in Florida including the colors of the feathers. According to your description they can get very tall, I am not sure the Reddish Egret is that big; and the other is the Tiger Fish which I have never seen before. Obviously the African Continent offers a different variety of wild life. The image is sharp. Some of the bushes interfere with the image, but it is what it is.
I am attaching an image of a Reddish Egret with a minnow for comparison |

Pinaki, another example of what is the new normal. Everything circulates around the hand held smart devices. Agree with Bev about the cropping. The three females are really looking at the camera. Interesting wardrobe, artefacts and colors including the goddess in the background. |

Bev, lot's of goodies to look at and eventually buy. The couple is looking away from the camera and blocking the merchandise, so we can not tell on what they are interested. I usually try not to amputate people unless it is strictly necessary. |

Andre, even at wide open this zoom lens has very little bokeh, also the short separation between the rider and the background does not help. It is almost impossible the achieve a "clean" background at the rodeo. |

Gerald, indeed a peculiar bike. Interesting modification to make the kid get involved and enjoy the ride. Of course, the father saw you making the picture. Image is sharp, and the colors are very tropical. There is motion.
I have entered images in multiple judging salons. At one time an image got a gold medal in one, and not accepted in another one. Oh well... Some judges just do not get it. |

Larry, to me the long exposure speaks by itself. Incredible detail and rendition of colors. Well done. I have been there, in fact with you many years ago, and it is not an easy place to photograph. The parking lot is a distance away, and yes, those limestone rocks are very sharp. |

Maria, your collection of little critters is increasing exponentially. Very sharp with lots of detail. I am very surprised that you were able to combine 10 frames in focus stacking created by hand holding. Great pulse for sure and the little guy did not move. |

Bruce, what a beauty this couple of young foxes. In pure nature salons, vignetting is not allowed. I thought it was more a front and back bokeh when shooting @ 1120 mm (800 + 1.4xTC)so I do not think the vignette is adding anything but distraction. |

Richard, panning is not easy. It takes a lot of try and error until you are lucky and get one right. The brain, eyes, body and hands synchronization is not easy to follow the movement. A good panning is when the subject is as sharp as possible, and the background is blurred due to the movement. Here the subject is soft, and the wings very blurred due to the slow shutter speed. The more magnification you have, the more difficult ends up. Here you used 420 mm. You needed a faster shutter speed for sure. |
