Guy, this is a real beautiful riverscape, complemented by the early morning fog giving to it a magical character. Image is sharp. Take care of your back, remember that hardware can be replaced. |

Bill, Marry Christmas and Happy New Year 2 U 2!! Great postcard rendition and with snow from the original image. Good work with PS. Did you intentionally overlapped the tree with the building ? |

Vella, the fjords of Scandinavia are just really magnificent to photograph. Yo me the image looks flat. I did a few tweaks: made the water line straight, added Dehaze, texture and warmer light. |

Erik, indeed they are communicating. Let's take a nap sound's good given the weather and after a good meal. Image is sharp. The snow complements very nicely the image. It is not a staged image, therefore the overlapping is not a problem, however; picky judges may think otherwise.

Ian, there is no doubt that Daniele Rodriguez is in very good shape, and lucky you for being able to photograph her, and by the same token there is nothing wrong with Latin portraits.
Very nice pose. The image is sharp and your selection of backdrop, the green complements well with the blue. |

Ted, they are different, here some of the features:
Bill shape: Anhingas have long, thin, pointed bills, while cormorants have heavy, hooked bills that are roughly the length of their heads.
Neck and tail length: Anhingas have longer necks and tails than cormorants.
Color: Anhingas have silvery streaks and wing patches, while cormorants are dark overall. |

Sarita, beautiful bird which we do not see in South Florida, nor the red tasty berries. In spite of the large crop that you mention, the image still holds some degree of sharpness. In another discussion group, they call me Dr Flip, so here it is. Also cropped a little bit more. |

Gloria, the blue footed boobies have a very elaborated and specific courting dance. I like Kathy's crop since it gives prevalence to the birds. They are sharp, unfortunately the beaks are overlapping covering one of the bird's eye, taking away some points. |

Gerhard, image is very sharp and at peak of action. The yellow billed storks from Africa are much nicer that the regular white storks we have here in Florida. The fact that has the fish gives the additional interest to the image. |

Jerry, it is a good image of a Great Horned Owl. It is sharp. There is too much empty space and tree branches that are overpowering the owl. This is my take of a good crop to make the owl stand out. |

Kathy, peak of action image. The anhingas are magnificent fishers, and the best is to watch them tossing the fish in the air and then swallow it. Unfortunately, the image is soft in spite of the 1/8000 shutter speed, so it must be a very large crop, or that the camera took focus away from the bird/fish eyes. I did crop it additionally since there is too much empty space, and the reflection is not clear so it does not add. |

Johann, you were in the right place at the right time, and your reaction time was short, therefore registering the moment. We do not control the environment in street photography, and not always we have time to move around/plan a better shot, specially if you are shooting from the hip. |

Pinaki, I agree with what has been said about the image. There is a hint of Venice given by the wooden boat with the Italian flag which are characteristic water taxis there. With Ed's crop, then it is gone. |

Bruce, great image. The worker indeed stands out contrasting with the fish and the ice. Interesting vantage point. I am guessing you were up on the walkway, and he down inside the guts of the boat. His arms also work as leading lines to the fish. |

Ed, typical altiplano (or Andean Plateau) people, which lies between Bolivia, Peru and North of Chile. I like the face expression of the kid which seems to be lost in space, just wondering of what is going on around her. It is a good reproduction by scanning, and the B&W interpretation gives additional interest. |

Bev, typical image of Cuban People. It is unfortunate that your crop is so tight (or it is the full frame ?) and there is some sort of smudge at the end of the left hand finger. Also, there is an awkward square on the TV screen just above her head. I like her face expression. |

Kathleen, I see this image more about the building itself rather than a Street Scene, even though it has people on it minding their own business as it is normal in an airport. The image is sharp and nicely composed. Your quasy sepia convertion always adds some degree of interest. |

Gerald, indeed peak of action as well. Great pose. Very sharp and the water splash framing the surfer adds to it. Some purist judges may say why the surfer is not looking at the camera ?? Go and figure.... |

Ronald, great shot at peak of action, sharp. I have tried to understand cricket, but I am still lost in space. A few years ago I had the International package in the satellite TV (not any more), and watched a few games, and read about the rules of the game. Forget about it. You have to be born with it. I do understand base ball and soccer. |

Andre, WOW, WOW, WOW !! It takes a great amount of planing, and a lot of try and error attempts to achieve an image like this. My guess is that this is not an image that just happened. For this reason I believe it would not qualify for Photojournalims, but yes for any other category. Congratulations. |

Maria, the young black crowed night heron is in an alert body language, ready to fly or fight. The image is sharp. Most of the times we have no control of the environment, and many times is not possible to walk the image to change the background, short of loosing the shot. The other images complement the story. Maria's crop improved it. |

Bruce, lucky you that a fellow photographer was around. I guess that is one of the risks of being alone in distant lands. Interesting image showing the older bighorn sheep pushing away the younger (shorter horns) and protecting his girl. Image is sharp and at peak of action. Some purists ND judges may underscore the image because of the overlapping of the horns. |

Adrian, first of all congratulations for your recent ROPA upstaged to EPSA. Yes, I agree with you that it is not always possible to show the size of these floating peaces of ice, but you added an extra image showing a scale compared to the size of the birds flying from and to the iceberg. The main image is very sharp and it has the added reflection on the water.
Happy Hollidays as well. |

Adrian, this is also known as the stick bird. Not very common. On my last trip to Costa Rica in March 2023 we were fortunate enough to see it on two occasions, one of which had a chick like your images, and the other one had the eyes and mouth open for a fraction of time, and yes the eyes are yellow/orange. See for yourselves. |
